My Destiny
Demon Hunter Lyrics

Unto my sin
I would never find my faith in this belief unseen again
The solitude of youth
My conscience wearing thin
I will suffer my infliction as a desecrated man
But the fear, the blood, the sweat and sound
They brought me here to wait for the will to appear
We were blinded by the sacred light
They carried us away
Like a razor through the dark that night
My destiny
Now the weight of living word
Come calling true
And my heart will drink the blood of death my soul forever knew
On the reverence of a voice
My clarity of you
The king of whom I never was has run my spirit through
We will carry that flame
The fire is in our name
We will carry that flame
The Demon Hunter song, "My Destiny," is a reflection on human nature and the struggle to find faith and purpose in life. The opening verse speaks of casting one's heart unto the beast, giving into sin and losing hope in unseen belief. The solitude of youth has worn thin on the conscience, and the singer is ready to suffer through their afflictions as a desecrated individual. However, through fear, blood, sweat, and sound, the individual is brought to this moment, waiting for the will to appear.
The second verse references being blinded by the sacred light and carried away like a razor through the dark. This is reminiscent of the idea of being saved by a force beyond one's control, giving direction and purpose to a life otherwise lost. The weight of the living word comes calling true, leading to a spiritual awakening where the heart drinks the blood of death that the soul forever knew. The clarity of who the singer is meant to be is found through recognizing the king they were never meant to be, and the singer's spirit is run through by this revelation.
The choruses speak to the singer's newfound purpose and the fire that has been ignited within them. This fire will be carried on, and they will hold steadfast to this newfound faith that has been revealed to them. "My Destiny" is a powerful song about the human struggle to find purpose and direction in life and ultimately becoming the person one was always meant to be.

I am a christian pastor, and I just want to say it's awesome that believers and non believers can enjoy great music like DH. And that great bands like DH are making their way into the "mainstream" and "secular" industries more and more now days. Because no matter what you believe, the music is always uplifting and encouraging. And for the fans who are unbelievers, it's never too late and you are very much LOVED. Thank you for giving Christian music the chance it deserves. God bless!

melodeath fan Thank you, that gentleman fails to realize that God also created music (which includes all kinds) along with everything else. And it's up to us to either use music to glorify God, or unfortunately glorify ourselves and other idols i.e. money, sex, death, drugs, and yes Satan. God bless you brother.

A pastor that listens to metal? Where do you preach at?

this is music that in a pastors beliefs is perfectly acceptable. It, just like any other style or format of music, has meanings and lyrics of what you might find in any other genre. If this song were talking about satan, drugs, sex or encouraging otherwise any other behavior that might be deemed unwise or ''sinful'', he as a pastor especially would not condone this song. This same thing could occur exactly in any other genre,. as it is about the meaning of the song, not the style of music in particular.
