“Here’s Your Way Out”, (the band's debut record), took over two years to create and exactly one calendar year to produce. "HYWO" was written almost entirely by frontman/brainchild Kylle Reece; primarily due to a lack of consistency in lineup. Reece had stated in multiple interviews that his vision for the project was clear, and that filling the missing pieces was only a matter of time. "It'll happen when it happens. I'm not looking for the best musicians, I'm looking for the right ones. I'm not going to rush that."
Sure enough, fast forward to 2016, Reece has found a lineup of musicians sharing his passion and dedication. Following a few single releases, a handful of West Coast tours, and hundreds of hours at Fang Studios with engineer and producer Nick Loiacono, Demon In Me signing a deal was more “when” than “if”.
In July of 2016, the band announced that they had signed a deal with Standby Records. While this is Reece’s first big break in a career that spans almost a decade, he assures us that while he and the band are happy, they don’t plan on stopping for celebration any time soon. "For us this is just the beginning. We’re excited that we were lucky enough to find a record label that shared the same passion and vision for the music we’ve put so much time and heart into; they're a great addition to the team. But we all know the real work starts now.”
Demon In Me is slated to release their debut full length record September 2nd, 2016 via Standby Records.

Demon In Me Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Empty is the skin you′re wearing
Smile just to move them along
Finding solace in the sickness
Baby, sadness is a mistress
She knows just how to get you off
If it hurts like hell
Now you′ve got another story to tell
Innocent little angel
Chased your shadow into traffic
Just to blame your death on somebody else
Well, I'm not waiting
For some Holy Ghost to send me a sign
I'm fine half alive
It′s all so draining
Torch the garden just to see in the night
That′s life, half alive
("I had these obsessive desires and thoughts
I wanted to control them, to possess them permanently"
"And that's why you killed them?"
"Right, right, not because I was angry with them
Not because I hated them
But because I wanted to keep them with me")
Voluntary, solitary
Name in the obituary
Always feels like you someone you know
Finding solace in the sickness
Never love it, never miss it
Never hold it, then you can′t let it go
Well, I'm not waiting
For some Holy Ghost to send me a sign
I′m fine half alive
It's all so draining
Torch the garden just to see in the night
That′s life, half alive
Well, I'm not waiting
For some Holy Ghost to send me a sign
I'm fine half alive
It′s all so draining
Torch the garden just to see in the night
That′s life, half alive
The song Obituary by Demon In Me delves into the theme of living with mental illness, including the struggle of trying to find solace in the pain that comes with it. The opening lines speak of being voluntary and solitary, which perhaps emphasize the personal and internal nature of the suffering. The next line, "Empty is the skin you're wearing," may suggest that despite being present and living, something crucial is missing. The following lines, "Smile just to move them along, finding solace in the sickness," can be interpreted as the need to pretend that everything is okay while internally struggling. The lyrics "Baby, sadness is a mistress, she knows just how to get you off" portray the idea that sadness becomes a source of comfort for the person, and they feel like they cannot let it go.
The chorus talks about the idea of embracing the pain: "If it hurts like hell, at least you'll know it really happened. Now you've got another story to tell." It suggests that experiencing intense emotions could have a positive impact by providing a new story that might help in some way. The line "Chased your shadow into traffic, just to blame your death on somebody else" highlights a self-destructive aspect of the person’s behavior, where the consequences are fatal, and they shift blame to escape it.
The quote of the conversation towards the end of the song, "I had these obsessive desires and thoughts. I wanted to control them, to possess them permanently. And that's why you killed them? Right, right, not because I was angry with them, not because I hated them, but because I wanted to keep them with me," suggests that the person struggles with obsessive and harmful thoughts and may have acted on them.
