I didn't even know there was a video made for it. But I still remember popping the cassette in my Walkman and listening to it over and over again as I rode my bicycle home from Grade 9 in 1984/1985.

I always appreciated Dennis' positivity in songs like this, Warning Shot, Rockin' the Paradise and I'm OK. It was an antidote to the cynicism that existed then as it does now.

I had this on VHS back in the 80’s. I held on to that video for many years, over a decade. The tape had many songs I loved and this song was one of my favorites. I don’t know what happened to that tape but I had not seen this video since I lost it in the late 80’s or early 90’s. Thanks for posting.

I’m recovering from cancer, went through a period of depression and I’m going through a divorce but hell ya when I’m done with this there gonna here from me and I know when I’m done with all this crap there will be something ahead for me something incredible is going to happen.

Desert Moon is the debut solo album from one-time Styx keyboard player/singer/songwriter Dennis DeYoung. It was released in 1984 by A&M Records. The album reached #24 on the Billboard album charts in the fall of 1984. The album's biggest hit was its title cut which hit #10 on the Billboard singles chart. The album's second single "Don't Wait for Heroes" scraped the Top 40 and got MTV play. Desert Moon was certified Gold in Canada.

@Ed Collins Why do so many MAGAs like 80s music? That kinda ruins the enjoyment for me. Especially because I'm 37 and I don't want young people to lump me in with conservative middle-aged dads for liking it.
I'm a hard left Bernie guy which seems rare for the classic rock fanbase. I was also an 80s kid, so I just want the music from my childhood to be cool, and attaching it to Trump fans doesn't help lol.

Ridiculous. That is nothing compared to the gaffes that come out of Trump's mouth where he calls black nations sh*thole countries and defends neo-nazis in Charlottesville. I loved Biden's non-politically correct statement just like you probably love Trump's racist statements. In fact, I used to like Trump for fighting the politically correct elite until I found out he was a racist. Trump is nothing but a wannabe dictator who talks up conspiracty theories (including those about election rigging). Mueller proved this in his report, but thanks to t he lie-infested right-wing media coup, half the country didn't believe it and the Republican senators (except for Mitt) were too scared of Trump (or too much like him to do the right thing). After Trump was acquitted of asking the Russians to help him overthrow his political rival, he has 1) openly asked Ukraine to investigate his political opponent, 2) openly asked China to investigate his political rival, and most recent and worst of all, he has threatened to withhold disaster relief aid from blue states if they allow voters to vote by mail. All 3 of these are worse than than colluding with the Russians. Unfortunately, 90% of Republicans think it is ok for a Republican president to shit on the constitution and cheat during the elections, Washington, Adams, Jefferson, & Franklin worked hard to set-up a governement that wouldn't succumb to tyranny, but between the Hitler-based propaganda generated by Fox, OAN, and Trump, they have all but destroyed what once made our Constitution sacred. The constitution and fair elections should be a lot more important than the causes represented by the right or the left. However, as long as Republicans are willing to support tribalism at all costs despite the widespread corruption, voter fraud, and cronyism that has infested the Trump administration, our Democracy is doomed if Trump is elected to another term. Even worse, is the fact that Trumps band of politics involves dividing up the country and this is the worst thing about him. It pisses me off to no end to think that I have good friends who I can't even be around because of the division Trump has created. The good news is Trump can't con a virus. Thus, Trump's total ignorance of medicine and science, and Trump's inability to lead will guarantee his defeat. Trump's latest political stunt which involves provoking Christians into thinking they are having their 1st amendment rights violated is going to cause hundreds of thousands of deaths. I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the year 1,000,000 US citizens are dead due to Trump using the virus to promote political division in hopes it will help him win the election. Just mark my words ....

@Walter Simmons I'm glad you read Sterling Whitaker's book. There are some other good books and info out there. Glad that you know JC hated Dennis. The problem with Styx was simple as this. Dennis was driven by his ego and wanted to be the uncompromising leader. However, when you have a band as talented as Styx, you need a democracy not a tyrant. (Take Rush for example. Same thing happened between Mick Jones and Lou Gramm. Like you, I'd love to see Styx make peace, and if they ever do, I'm quite sure that it will be Tommy who is the peacemaker. JY and Dennis are too stubborn and opinionated and just don't know how to compromise. However, I think Gowan should definitely be in the band if they do unite and I don't think the Styx haters will go for that.
