Nir Tibor was born on June 18, 1993 in Tel Aviv, Israel. He grew up largely in the Ramat Aviv neighborhood of the city. Lloyd learned how to play the trumpet at age 8 and taught himself to play the guitar at age 13. He attended the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts in Givatayim.
Lloyd released his first single, "Playa (Say That)", in mid-2015. Toward the end of 2015, he moved to Bangkok, Thailand where he stayed for a year. During his time in Bangkok, Lloyd focused exclusively on music and wrote 35 songs. After his year in Bangkok, Lloyd returned to Israel where he began releasing more music including the songs, "Snow White" and "Nevermind (Alright)". Lloyd remixed the latter song and released it as "Nevermind" in the winter of 2016. The remixed version quickly garnered success on Spotify, eventually peaking at number 4 on the Spotify Global Viral chart. It would eventually accumulate more than 200 million streams on Spotify and over 1.5 million Shazams. In June 2018, Time listed it as one of the "songs of summer".
Like a Stone

By a freeway, I confess I was lost in the pages
Of a book full of death reading how we'll die alone
And if we're good, we'll lay to rest anywhere we wanna go
In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there like a stone
And on my deathbed I will pray to the gods and the angels
Like a pagan to anyone who will take me to heaven
To a place I recall, I was there so long ago
The sky was bruised, the wine was bled, and there you led me on
In your house I long to be
Room by room, patiently
I'll wait for you there like a stone
I'll wait for you there alone, alone
In your house I long to be
Room by room, patiently
I'll wait for you there like a stone
I'll wait for you there alone, alone
Dennis Lloyd's "Like A Stone" is a sorrowful yet beautiful track that deals with the themes of loneliness, death, and longing for companionship. The first verse describes the singer's mental state while he is lost in the pages of a book that deals with death and dying alone. It captures his feelings of helplessness, fear and confusion as he struggles to find meaning in life. The second verse talks about his desire to be with the person he loves, in their house, waiting patiently for them like a stone, with no urgency or expectations. The chorus echoes his sentiments, as he sings about waiting patiently like a stone in the house, being alone but hopeful that his love will come and fill the void.
The third verse takes a more spiritual turn, as the singer prays to the gods and angels on his deathbed, invoking the image of a pagan who believes that any heavenly being can take him to his final resting place. He reminisces about a place he had been to a long time ago, with a bruised sky and bled wine, where his love had led him on. The final chorus brings everything together, as he repeats his desire to be in the house with his love, waiting like a stone, alone but ever-hopeful.
Overall, "Like a Stone" is a beautiful and emotive song that captures the fragility of human existence and the longing for companionship. It's a simple yet powerful message that resonates with people from all walks of life, regardless of their age or background.
