2. Although there is the occasional light hearted song, the majority of lyrics revolve around the darker aspects of human nature. Tunes regarding hate, death, jealousy, betrayal, and fear can all be heard flowing out of the amplifiers when Derringer takes the stage. All bands rally their inspiration from somewhere, and not surprisingly, the late and great Mr John R. Cash is on Derringers list. Others include 16 Horsepower, Madrugada, Ryan Adams, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Leonard Cohen. To define their sound is not an easy task. Rock is to vague, and country fails to hit the nail dead on. This is not a band where you gather in front of the stage and head bang. Most likely you will find yourself at a table, perhaps with a brew, leisurely absorbing it with the music. When the set has come to an end, and you embark on your long road home, you will hopefully start contemplating some of the lyrics. And if you do, I promise you that youll find more than three pieces of yourself in them.
3. Derringer was an American hard rock/heavy metal band formed in 1976 by guitarist Rick Derringer with the original lineup consisting of Derringer (guitar/vocals), Kenny Aaronson (bass/backing vocals), Danny Johnson (guitar/vocals), and Vinny Appice (drums). The band released two studio albums with this lineup, Self-Titled (1976) and Sweet Evil (1977). Johnson and Appice left after Sweet Evil, and one more studio album (If I Weren't So Romantic, I'd Shoot You) followed in 1978 with the addition of drummer Myron Grombacher. The band broke up in 1983.

It's your wandering boy
Knocking now on your front door
Let me in, sweet mama
It's your bundle of joy
Coming home from his personal war
It's your baby out here
Begging you to forgive
Let me in, little sweetheart
Or, mama, I fear
I won't find me no reason to live
I had my taste of freedom
And it tasted pretty bad
I swear it's a jungle out there
But it sure made me realize
What a good thing I had
A good thing
They say you still care
Come on, sweet mama
Let me back in your heart
Back where he's always been
And I swear there ain't nothing
Gonna tear us apart
Whoa, whoa, whoa
Won't you let me in
Yeah, yeah, yeah baby, let me in
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, let me in
Yeah, yeah, yeah, honey, let me in
The lyrics of Derringer's song "Let Me In" depict a man who has lived a wild lifestyle and wants to return home to his mother. He has tasted freedom and realized that it wasn't as good as he thought it would be. He knocks on her front door and begs for her forgiveness, asking her to let him back into her heart. He acknowledges the wrongs he has done and expresses his desire to return to his previous life.
The lyrics of the song convey a sense of regret and desperation. The singer realizes that he made a mistake and wants to come back to what he knew and loved. The line "I won't find me no reason to live" is particularly poignant as it emphasizes the man's desperate state.
Overall, the song portrays the theme of family and home. It emphasizes the importance of having loved ones and the desperation that comes with losing them. It's a heartfelt plea for second chances and forgiveness.
