Symmetry
Dethklok [Metalocalypse] Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Carbon calcium blood
Find your own disease
Excellent breeding left you without one
Try to be at ease
They're staring daggers at you
But you'll get your piece
Walk
symmetry
Your infrastructure is planned
Time to cut designs
Every threads in place this time
Now you understand
The competition is stiff
Got the upper hand
Ready to strut your stuff
Walk
I would kill to have your face
I would kill to have your body
I would kill to have your skull
I would kill to have your skin
Breathless you pose burning with spite
Beauty is so crude contrite
Venom you bleed bile within
Knowing their fate architect sin
Twist and maneuver you've practiced your part
Starving and hacking you've created art
Painfully limping now this is your life
Take them all down now and raise up your knife
Breathless you pose burning with spite
Beauty is so crude contrite
Venom you bleed bile within
Knowing their fate architect sin
Now walk
In this song, Dethklok talks about a dystopian world where things like genetics, beauty and power matter the most. The first lines of the song "Carbon calcium blood, Find your own disease" seems to refer to the importance of genetics and how it has become a defining factor of a person's life. The next line "Excellent breeding left you without one" is an ironic line meaning that even though one has been bred excellently, there still might be something missing that could make them unique.
The song then goes on to talk about the competition and how everyone is trying hard to be the best. "The competition is stiff, Got the upper hand, Ready to strut your stuff." The line "I would kill to have your face, I would kill to have your body, I would kill to have your skull, I would kill to have your skin" could refer to how people have become obsessed with beauty and would go to any extent to achieve it.
The second half of the song talks about how the singer of the song has worked hard to create art and is now ready to take down anyone who gets in their way. The lines "Twist and maneuver you've practiced your part, Starving and hacking you've created art, Painfully limping now this is your life, Take them all down now and raise up your knife" show how even though the singer has worked hard, it has come at a cost and they have become a symbol of fear.
