1. A rapper from London, signed to Island Records.
2. A gothic metal band from Sweden, last signed to Napalm Records.
1. Rapper from United Kingdom:
It’s taken a handful of years for Dagenham resident Devlin to take his deep, dedicated lyrics out of the confines of East London and prove his worth across the North/South border. It’s now not unusual to watch Devlin causing carnage on stage in Northampton or booking shows in Amsterdam.
At 18 years of age Devlin has what can only be described as a cult following of supporters that value his intelligent and evocative lyrics, in a pool of MCs that all too often spawn monotonous and lacklustre rappers. A diamond in the rough, Devlin’s road to success began at O.T. Recordings where he still currently resides with label-mates Dogzilla, Shotz, Syer, Rachet, and Deverlish amongst others.
Devlin was first brought to O.T's attention when he hit the airwaves on a local radio station at jus 13; even then it was easy to see he had real talent. Devlin would go up radio as much as he could with whoever would let him on, he was also writing and recording songs with friends and local producers at a very young age. It wasn’t very long before he built up a good reputation in the area. A few years later he was brought to Dogzilla's attention again, this time by a mutual friend, Dogzy decided to give Devlin a chance and took him to the studio to check him out and lay some vocals. At the time the Danny Weed's (Roll Deep) "Heat Up" was one of the most popular tracks around, Devlin jumped on it and didn’t disappoint, spitting a high level of content at a good speed and at the same time displaying a style and flow well beyond his years.
Devlin was soon introduced to the rest of the O.T Crew and Dogzy wasted no time in organising a radio slot on Flava FM. Flava was a well known breeding ground for new talent, the management at Flava have had almost every big name in the scene on there at some point so it was the perfect place for Devlin to start his membership with O.T. The sets on Flava FM were massive, every week the phone line would jam when Devlin touched the mic. He soon made the switch to Rinse FM where he was an instant hit. Still only 16 Devlin had shown he could mix it with the big boys; he even managed to do a set with the legend that is DJ Slimzee before his departure from radio.
His relentless progression continued with each track Devz featured on. The combination between Dogzilla and Devlin on tracks was deadly and a freestyle from producer Rootz showed just how far Devlin had come, and in such a short space of time. The Rootz track along with eight other tracks featuring Devlin was to appear on O.T Recordings fist mixtape release.
The London Borough of Barking & Dogenham Mixtape was released in Feb. 2006 and received great critical success. (Check Blog - Reviews/Interviews). One of the stand-out tracks on the CD was Devlin's Ghetto Kyote Remix freestyle which was produced by O.T Recording's Deverlish. The track was played right across the board, from pirate stations like Rinse to commercial radio stations such as 1Xtra and Kiss Fm. Devlin has performed live sets on both commercial stations; with DJ Logan Sama at Kiss100FM and DJ Cameo at BBC 1Xtra. He has also appeared on The Media Gang's Practice Hours DVD and Target's Aim High, Risky Roadz and Rinse FM's Rinsessions mixtape.
2006 saw Devlin hit the shops twice with the O.T Recordings mixtape, vinyl release April Shower from O.T producer Shotz and Firein produced by production talent Rachet. Devlin also featured heavily on Broad Street Stories and the uber-successful Shot City Mixtape.
More recently Devlin joined The Movement; a group of some of the very best MCs and producers in the grime scene including Ghetto, Scorcher and Wretch 32. Tempo Specialists was released in 2007 and proved that the best MCs in the scene had formed a strong alliance.
Devlin's first solo mixtape entitled Tales From The Crypt was released in November 2006. It featured collaborations with O.T and The Movement members and was considered one of the best grime mixtapes of 2006.
Since Devlin’s first solo release, the young MC is gearing up for his second effort ‘Blood, Sweat and Beers’ and the Devlin E.P as the talented MC garners more press attention and support throughout the UK and Europe.

So just let the H2O splash upon the graves
Of all the souls I used to know but now have passed away
Men say that time can heal a situation
But this pain is not a passing phase
Now I'm curious how many years a heart can ache
Feel like a Minotaur meandering this darkened place
Trying to find a way to maybe find the light of day
And sit and hold my nan's hands while she felt the pain
And say hello to old mates behind the pearly gates
Given the chance to glance back at my childish face
I'd try and smile the way I smiled just like a child again
Before I had to say goodbye to anybody
And the loved ones I've lost all had life within their bodies
My side was less lonely then
You wanna cry well come and hold me then
I think I need the blessing of some holy men
'Cause everything is different now
I'd really like to tell you how
How I wanted you here by my side
I know what I said but I lied
It looked like I laughed but I cried
But I wish I could push rewind
If I had minutes on my hand just like a time piece
I'd turn the clocks back and maybe try to find peace
As well as my ID, so rewind me
Just like a video cassette cause I'm upset that I ain't seen
Some faces in a while just apparitions in my dream
That ends abruptly when they try to hug me through the screen
Of smoke that's engulfing me
Like the coastline with its high tide
And you can see the sands and the oceans meet
No one told me when this ride began to hold my seat
Time flies like Emmet Brown was in the driver's seat
You talk of irony
Well now I'm lonely
But I'm searching for my privacy
This life won't comply with me
I think I need some dead relatives either side of me
To keep me company and guide me through the library
Of neverending stories full of lies and deceit
Hi Ho Silver, Lone Ranger riding to the beat
'Cause everything is different now
I'd really like to tell you how
How I wanted you here by my side
I know what I said but I lied
It looked like I laughed but I cried
But I wish I could push rewind
If I could rewind time to its slowest
I'd look at life at its heights and its lowest
So I could maybe try to recollect
What made me who I am besides a poet
Besides a poet
How I wanted you here by my side
I know what I said but I lied
It looked like I laughed but I cried
But I wish I could push rewind
The song Rewind by Diane Birch is a nostalgic and introspective piece that speaks about regret, loss and the desire to turn back time. The lyrics detail the emotions one feels when they have lost loved ones and how they wish to have spent more time with them. The rain is used as a metaphor for the tears that the singer sheds while reminiscing about her loved ones. She wishes she could turn back time and relive her life so she could hold her nan’s hands again while she was in pain and say hello to old mates behind the pearly gates. The lyrics make references to mythical creatures, with the singer comparing herself to a Minotaur wandering in a darkened place searching for a way to find the light.
The chorus highlights the singer's desire to have someone by her side during her time of mourning, she feels that everything is different now and even though she had previously claimed to not need anyone's support, she now wishes she could push rewind and have someone to hold and comfort her. The closing lines express the desire to go back to a time when life was simple and carefree, to rewind time to its slowest and recollect what made her who she is.
Line by Line Meaning
When the sky breaks it rains
Rain falls when the sky breaks open
So just let the H2O splash upon the graves
Allow the rain to fall on the graves and make a splash
Of all the souls I used to know but now have passed away
The gravestones belong to the people I once knew who have died
Men say that time can heal a situation
People believe that time can help you feel better after a difficult experience
But this pain is not a passing phase
However, the pain I feel is not temporary
Now I'm curious how many years a heart can ache
I wonder how long a heart can feel hurt and sadness
Feel like a Minotaur meandering this darkened place
I feel lost and confused like a mythical creature in a dark maze
Trying to find a way to maybe find the light of day
I'm searching for a way to find hope and happiness
If I could rewind then I'd re-live my life again
If I could go back in time, I would live my life differently
And sit and hold my nan's hands while she felt the pain
I would spend time with my grandmother and comfort her while she was in pain
And say hello to old mates behind the pearly gates
I would greet my friends who have passed away and are in heaven
Given the chance to glance back at my childish face
If I could see my younger self, I would smile like I did back then
I'd try and smile the way I smiled just like a child again
I would try to find joy and innocence in life like I did when I was younger
Before I had to say goodbye to anybody
Before I had to experience the loss and pain of saying goodbye to someone
And the loved ones I've lost all had life within their bodies
The family and friends I've lost were once alive and had a physical form
My side was less lonely then
I felt less alone when they were still with me
You wanna cry well come and hold me then
If you want to cry, I'm here to comfort you
I think I need the blessing of some holy men
I feel like I need the guidance and support of religious figures
'Cause everything is different now
Everything has changed since before
I'd really like to tell you how
I wish I could explain to you
How I wanted you here by my side
How much I wished you were with me
I know what I said but I lied
I said something untrue
It looked like I laughed but I cried
Although it appeared as though I was laughing, I was really crying
But I wish I could push rewind
I wish I could go back in time and change things
If I had minutes on my hand just like a time piece
If I had control over time like a clock does
I'd turn the clocks back and maybe try to find peace
I would use this power to go back and find peace
As well as my ID, so rewind me
I want to be rewound like a video cassette
Just like a video cassette cause I'm upset that I ain't seen
I miss seeing the faces of people I haven't seen in a long time
Some faces in a while just apparitions in my dream
I sometimes dream about people I miss seeing in real life
That ends abruptly when they try to hug me through the screen
But the dream always ends when they try to hug me through a computer screen
Of smoke that's engulfing me
I feel overwhelmed by something like smoke
Like the coastline with its high tide
This feeling is like waves crashing on the shore
And you can see the sands and the oceans meet
The shore is where the land and sea meet
No one told me when this ride began to hold my seat
I wasn't prepared for the difficulties of life
Time flies like Emmet Brown was in the driver's seat
Time passes by quickly like it's being controlled by the fictional character Emmet Brown
You talk of irony
It's ironic that
Well now I'm lonely
Now I feel alone
But I'm searching for my privacy
I'm looking for a private space for myself
This life won't comply with me
Life doesn't follow my wishes
I think I need some dead relatives either side of me
I feel like I need the comfort of deceased family members to guide me
To keep me company and guide me through the library
They can keep me company and guide me through the long journey of life
Of neverending stories full of lies and deceit
Life is full of neverending stories that contain falsehoods and manipulation
Hi Ho Silver, Lone Ranger riding to the beat
I'll keep on going and make progress like the fictional character the Lone Ranger
If I could rewind time to its slowest
If I could slow down time and reflect
I'd look at life at its heights and its lowest
I would observe the best and worst moments of life
So I could maybe try to recollect
So that I can try to remember
What made me who I am besides a poet
The experiences that shaped me into who I am today
How I wanted you here by my side
How much I wished you were with me
I know what I said but I lied
I said something untrue
It looked like I laughed but I cried
Although it appeared as though I was laughing, I was really crying
But I wish I could push rewind
I wish I could go back in time and change things
