Dia Frampton is half Korean and half Dutch. Dia received a karaoke machine as a Christmas gift when she was a child and began singing at local county fairs and retirement centers, whilst her sister Meg taught herself to play songs on the guitar. In 2004 the pair formed a band Meg & Dia that have since released 4 full-length albums and several EPs.
Beginning on April 26, 2011, Dia appeared as a contestant on the first season of NBC's reality talent program The Voice. On the first show, she sang Colbie Caillat's 2007 hit, "Bubbly" and she was selected by coach Blake Shelton, who said "when I heard your voice, I started to smile."

Do you feel you're afraid to stand alone?
Cut away every safety net
Live your life so you won't regret the road
Feels like you, standing there so small
Just the space between the stars
Don't be afraid to risk it all
We are giants
We are giant
We are giants
We are we are
We are giants
We are giant
We are giants
We are we are
Raise your flag, let your voice be heard
Put your heart into every word you say
All your failures' a cornerstone
Build a house with the things you've thrown away
Feels like you, standing there so small
Just the space between the stars
Don't be afraid to risk it all
'Cause we are we are
We are giants
We are giant
We are giants
We are we are
We are giants
We are giant
We are giants
We are we are
Feels like you, standing there so small
Just the space between the stars
Don't be afraid to risk it all
'Cause we are we are
We are giants
We are giant
We are giants
We are we are
We are giants
We are giant
We are giants
We are we are
The lyrics of "We Are Giants" encourage people to let go of their fears and pursue their dreams. The first stanza addresses the feelings of inadequacy and the fear of standing alone that often stop people from taking risks. Dia Frampton and Lindsey Stirling urge the listener to cut away from safety nets, take a chance and live a life with no regrets. The metaphor of giants represents the potential within every individual to achieve great things.
The second stanza encourages the listener to take action and let their voice be heard. The singers urge the listener to use their failures as a foundation, rather than a hindrance, in the pursuit of success. The bridge features a repetition of the lyrics "Feels like you, standing there so small, just the space between the stars," which is another metaphor for feeling alone and small in a vast and overwhelming world. The repetition of the phrase emphasizes the idea that everyone feels that way at some point, and there is power in recognizing this shared experience.
The song's title, "We Are Giants," emphasizes that everyone has the potential to be great and make an impact in the world. The lyrics reinforce this idea by stressing the importance of taking risks, being true to oneself, and persevering through failures.
