The band was formed in 1992 from the 80's punk band "Strebers" after one of the members died in a car accident. Ulke and Ztikkan recorded one last album called "Till en vän" (to a friend) with a drum machine replacing their friend and then decided to start a new band. They found Stipen who joined them as a drummer and in 1992 Dia Psalma was formed.
During the 90s Dia Psalma swept in like a storm and around 1994 they topped the charts for most played and most sold record. 1997 Dia Psalma went into the grave and for nine years it seemed that they'd stay there. In early 2006 a reunion tour around Sweden was announced and the response they got was overwhelming. After a successful tour during which they among other places played at many of Swedens biggest rock festivals, they started recording their first new album in ten years.
The album "Djupa skogen" (The deep woods) was released October 10 2007 and Dia Psalma hit the road touring again.

The song Mamma by Dia Psalma is a commentary on how society judges mothers who prioritize their own lives over their children's needs. The song tells the story of a mother who spends all her time socializing with the elite in her city while neglecting her family. The lyrics suggest that this behavior is the result of societal pressure to be seen as successful and to keep up with the Joneses.
The first verse speaks to the idea that children must be quiet so their mother can sleep during the day after a night out with celebrities. The second verse suggests that the mother's busy lifestyle is a result of her desire to appear successful and be a part of the city's elite. The chorus repeats the line "we'll see if she comes home tonight, we'll surely have to sleep alone tonight" suggesting that the mother's actions cause her children to feel neglected and abandoned.
The song appears to be critical of the societal norm that values success and social status over family relationships. The lyrics suggest that mothers who prioritize their own social lives over the needs of their children are likely to face judgement and criticism from society.
