Diana Ross and the Supremes Lyrics

Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh

Yah, mi chiedo come fanno, ehi
A chiamarsi ancora frère, eh eh eh
Ehi, questi stanno rosicando

Io mezzo uomo, mezzo animale, Dio egizio

Curavo l'incertezza e l'imbarazzo
Io mi imbarazzo quando penso a te

Bang, bang
Non capisci lo slang, slang
Che ne sai della gang, gang?
Tu non sei della gang, gang (brr)
Dalle pop alle Top Ten (brr)
Questi mi odiano a morte (brr)
E uno metteva i vestiti dell'altro (ah)
Pistola fa (pah, pah) come i film
Spendo 'sti soldi e li rifaccio

Curavo l'incertezza e l'imbarazzo
Io mi imbarazzo quando penso a te

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Supremes" by Italian rapper Mahmood tell a story of self-discovery through the lens of an adolescent's struggle to fit in. Mahmood reflects on his past experiences with lean (a popular cough syrup mixed with soda), which he would carry with him to school to ease his social anxieties. The pressure to conform to societal norms and be accepted by his peers eventually led him to feel embarrassed about his own insecurities.

The song is also about the rapper's current success, which contrasts with his past struggles. Mahmood describes himself as a voice for those who have been silenced, and expresses pride in his accomplishments. The lyrics reference his detractors, who resent him for his outspokenness and success, and he declares that he won't waste his time worrying about them. In the end, Mahmood is unapologetic about his past and his present, and will not allow anyone to hold him back.

Love the way the pianist sweeps across the keys, and as with every song with violins, I love, love, love their sound in this piece.

This is a very pleasant song. Very nicely sung.

@oceanbound222

I honestly like this song. Diana sings it very well. I remember hearing it on the radio all the time.

@deby5983

It's always about the music to me. Just learned of "Diana's" diva-ness, etc., not long ago. Doesn't take away from the glorious music the Supremes made no matter who was singing background or composing words or the instrumentals. Gotta love music for how it makes you feel and let everything else go. I love this song.

@jackanthony976

I'm not as superficial as all that.  One of the joys of listening to music is to know who is singing lead and background.  I  always learn the name of all the group members when I like a group and learn what they look like.  When I like a song I want to know who is singing and possibly who is in the band..that is part of the joy.  There is no need for a record company to lie as to who is on a record. This song might have done better if they had used the "real" Supremes instead of those awful Andantes.
