Venom
Dicte Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's in my bones like bane
And it should get me going
Instead it leaves a stain
When the future's on, and our past is passed
Hang on and hang on,
till the first is last
I weep and I weep and I weep, no sleep
I'll blaze my light today
Remake my dark array
My star's about to - change.
It's in my blood like venom
It's in my heart like coal
And it would all be moving
But I've been bought and sold
And it blinds the eye, and it burns the hand
it's halfway over, but I refused the dance
I'll blaze my light today
Remake my dark array
My star's about to - change
It's in my blood like venom
It's in my bones like bane.
I'll blaze my light today
Remake my dark array
My star's about to - change
The lyrics of Dicte's song "Venom" convey a sense of frustration and ennui. The singer feels as though there is something inside them - a venom - that should be motivating them, pushing them forward towards success or happiness, but instead it is leaving a stain, a mark that can't be washed away. There is a sense of regret for wasted potential, for having been "bought and sold" rather than living authentically. The second verse reinforces this feeling, describing the venom as something that blinds and burns, something that is disposing us to refuse the dance of life.
But despite this, the singer is determined to turn things around. They will remake their dark array and blaze a new light, ready to face a changing future. There is a stubborn resilience here, a refusal to give up or let the venom win. The repetition of the final lines, "I'll blaze my light today / Remake my dark array / My star's about to - change", reinforces this sense of determination, as if the singer is making a solemn oath to start anew.
Dicte's "Venom" is a song of hope and perseverance in the face of adversity, encouraging listeners to choose their own path and never give up on themselves or their dreams.
