Don't You
Die Happy Lyrics

Praising honesty and truth
But even saints can be confused
What you've done
Is no better than a crime
I feel betrayed and I feel used
Now everything is done
To me you're dead and gone
Refrain:
Don't you ever call my name again
Don't you ever try to be a friend
After everything you've done
Don't you ever call my name again
Don't you ever fall in love again
If you cannot live without
Think of you
All we had is all we lost
Maybe too fragile to get through
Were you scared
Hid behind your point of view
Between innocence and truth
Everything's broken
And I can live without you [3x]
What you've done is no better than a crime
Everything's broken
And I can live without you [2x]
The lyrics to Die Happy's song "Don't You" express a sense of betrayal and hurt from someone who was believed to be honest and trustworthy. The opening lines show the singer looking at the person and realizing that even the most virtuous people can still make mistakes and cause confusion. The second verse reveals that the person's actions have caused a great amount of pain and feeling of being used. The bridge indicates that the relationship between the two is now over and they are no longer a part of each other's lives. The refrain is a warning to the person to not attempt to reconnect or be a friend because of the damage they have caused.
The third verse speaks to the memories that the singer has of their relationship and the realization of how fragile it truly was. The lyrics describe the person's fear of being honest and the struggle to balance between innocence and truth. The chorus repeats the warning and the final lines state that everything is broken but the singer can now live without the person.
The song is a powerful example of someone standing up for themselves and expressing their hurt while recognizing that they deserve better. The lyrics are relatable and speak to the pain that can come from broken trust.
