In late 2010 Digital Daggers had the single of the week, "No Easy Way," which gained over 150,000 downloads to promote the release of the debut digital EP Human Emotion. The title track of the EP was used by Ferrero Raffaello for a TV commercial in 2011. Their debut full-length album Close Your Eyes was released on 11 June 2013 by Los Angeles-based indie label El Camino Media. The song "The Devil Within" is currently being featured in trailers for the NBC series The Blacklist, Nikita, and Pretty Little Liars. In February 2014, they released "Aquarius" from the album 'Reimaginations: Volume One', which was used in the first episode of the CW show "Starcrossed".
Digital Daggers released their 2nd and final full-length album Mixed Emotions in 2014. The band had broken up before its release and have since had songs from the album featured in the TV Series How To Get Away With Murder. The song "Back To The Start" is featured on the upcoming Official Soundtrack album for How To Get Away With Murder released on Hollywood Records March 2016. Orange is the New Black featured "Save Us From Ourselves" in Season 7, Episode 4: "How to Do Life." The song begins as Maria recites from a pamphlet "Take what you want and leave the rest."
On 9 November 2017, Digital Daggers announced their return to the stage by presenting their newest song, "Devil's Choir". Space has been heavily active in the film and TV sync world as an artist, producer and performer, especially with his band Digital Daggers.
Bad Intentions
Digital Daggers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Let the poison sink in, let it leave its mark
There used to be a lightness, used to be a spark
Broke communication, let it go too far
Come closer, deep down
You might like what I found
I am not what I've done, what I've become
Can't fight these bad intentions
I am not what I've done, what I've become
The smoking gun
Can't fight these bad intentions!
I thought I was the victim, I played it well
Sifted through the wreckage, couldn't find myself
I tried to be salvation, tried to make a change
Oh, I've gone too far, looked the other way
Come closer, deep down
You might like what I've found
I am not what I've done, what I've become
The smoking gun
Can't fight these bad intentions
I am not what I've done, what I've become
The smoking gun
Can't fight these bad intentions
Just pull the trigger, I'll take the pain
You know you wanted to
You know you wanted to
Just pull the trigger, I'll take the blame
I'll be the villain, just play the game
I found a bitter heart
I am not what I've done, what I've become
The smoking gun
Can't fight these bad intentions
I am not what I've done, what I've become
The smoking gun
Can't fight these bad intentions
Just pull the trigger, I'll take the pain
Can't fight these bad intentions
The lyrics of Digital Daggers' "Bad Intentions" explore the struggle of a person who has played the victim for too long and is now grappling with the reality of their own culpability in the situation. The singer has become bitter and resentful, allowing poison to seep into their heart and leave its mark. They acknowledge that they used to have a lightness and a spark, but their own actions have led to broken communication and gone too far. The chorus reinforces the idea that the person is not defined by what they've done or become, but they can't fight their own bad intentions.
The verse "I thought I was the victim, I played it well / Sifted through the wreckage, couldn't find myself / I tried to be salvation, tried to make a change / Oh, I've gone too far, looked the other way" conveys the idea that the singer has been so consumed by their own victimhood that they failed to see their own role in the situation. However, they are now willing to confront their own mistakes and accept the consequences, as seen in the lines "Just pull the trigger, I'll take the pain / I'll be the villain, just play the game". The repeated line "Can't fight these bad intentions" suggests that the person is struggling to break free of their own self-destructive patterns.
Overall, the song speaks to the universal struggle of acknowledging one's flaws and mistakes, and making the difficult but necessary choice to take responsibility and move forward.
