My Favorite Things

Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into Springs
These are a few of my favorite things
When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad.
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into Springs
These are a few of my favorite things
When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad
The lyrics of Dionne Warwick’s hit song, "My Favorite Things" are a charming reminder to focus on the small joys in life when facing tough times. Each verse of the song lists some of the singer's favorite things that bring her comfort and joy. The first verse includes familiar objects such as raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens, and warm woolen mittens. The second verse expands to include delicious treats like crisp apple strudels and schnitzel with noodles. The final verse mentions the peaceful beauty of snowflakes on the singer's nose and the moon's reflection on the wings of wild geese. The chorus repeats the idea that remembering these favorite things can bring comfort even when things are going wrong.
But the song has a deeper meaning beyond just listing favorite objects. The lyrics are a reminder to appreciate the simple aspects of life that bring us joy and peace, especially in the midst of turmoil. The song became a popular anthem of hope and joy, and continues to be covered by many artists to this day, including Ariana Grande.
