The Look Of Love
Dionne Warwick Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The look of love
Is in your eyes
A look your smile can't
disguise

The look of love
Is saying so much more than
Just words could every say
And what my heart has heard
Well it takes my breath away

[Chorus]
I can hardly wait to hold you
Feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you
Now that I have found you

You've got the look of love
It's on your face
A look that time can't erase
Baby be mine, tonight

Let this be just the start of
So many nights like this
Let's take a lovers vow
And seal it with a kiss

[Chorus]

Don't ever go
Don't ever go
I love you so
The look of love

Let this be just the start of
So many nights like this
Let's take a lover's vow
And baby we'll seal it with a kiss

[Chorus]

I can’t believe she wasn’t a James Bond movie singer of all time!

Dionne Warwick singing this lovely song reminds of a 1973 holiday in Torquay. This song was always on the juke box in the the Yacht Pub which was one of the harbourside pubs at that time. Happy memories

I was there in '73! Beautiful seaside town.

I wasn't going to comment, but I have to. Simply beautiful. And as someone said a few posts down, 'The voice of a generation." So true. The voice of the classic 60's. Later it was Carol King; but for a while, Dionne Warwick was the voice of elegance, vulnerability, hope, and faith. Backed by the most popular songwriter of his day, Burt Bacharach. My soul is almost angry, that I can't go back to those days, and live them just for a little while.

I was about 12 then. Now at 71 it feels like yesterday.
