Furthest Star
Dirt Poor Robins Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In my brightest reverie
I can see her walking next to me
I feel her breath upon my cheek
Speak gentle words to tame the beast

We dream of ways to sail above
Flee from the coveteers of love
Evade their jealous hunt
In the shadows of a distant sun

We'll find our hiding place
Clear across the Milky Way
Beyond the galaxy
On the furthest star that we see

Behold the day she found me here
So near the end of love's career
I feared every flower that appeared
Had been uprooted by my peers

But then my autumn prayers were heard
Just before the frost emerged
And I'll have my just deserts
When once again I'm next to her

We'll find our hiding place
Clear across the Milky Way
Beyond the galaxy
On the furthest star that we see

We'll find our hiding place
Clear across the Milky Way
Beyond the galaxy
A world for only you and me

We'll find our hiding place
Clear across the Milky Way
Beyond the galaxy
On the furthest star that we see

Beyond the galaxy
On the furthest star we can see

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Dirt Poor Robins's song, "Furthest Star," are a poetic expression of the longing for a love that transcends time and space. In the first verse, the singer describes a beautiful dream where he imagines his lover walking beside him and whispering gentle words to calm his restless heart. The second verse takes a darker turn, as the singer reflects on the challenges that lovers face in a world where jealousy and greed can consume even the strongest bonds of affection. But despite these obstacles, the singer clings to the hope of finding a place of refuge with his beloved, far away from the strife and turmoil of the mundane world. He imagines a distant star, clear across the Milky Way, that will be their shelter and sanctuary, where they can build a new home for themselves, free from the cares and worries of everyday life.

The imagery of the song is rich and evocative, drawing on themes of fantasy and science fiction to convey the power of the singer's emotional yearning. The idea of escaping to a distant star represents a kind of longing for transcendence, a desire to rise above the mundane and find a place of perfect freedom and unity with one's beloved. The lyrics also carry a subtle message of hope, suggesting that even in a world that can be hostile and unkind, there is still the possibility for happiness and love.

Overall, "Furthest Star" is a beautiful and moving song that speaks to the deepest longings of the human heart, expressing the desire for an eternal and unbreakable love that cannot be shaken by the trials of life.

Dirt Poor Robins. Sorry if i do mistakes in this comment, I'm not good speaking english! You don't know me, I'm just a boy in this world listening your music. I just want you know I love your music, it is awesome and bring me in another dimension, same dimension i love to stay in. 23 years old, and I can't find other guys that can appreciate your songs, it hurts me, modern music disgust me and I can't understand why your fascinating pieces can't touch their souls as them touch mine. I would say other things, but as I said, I'm not skilled in English language, and i bet I've already wrote some bad sentences! And i don't like google translate too!
Well, it's ok, i had to write this comment!
Just know it, Neil, Kate(right?) and other members of the band, don't stop it, you have not 3 billions views like scum as despacito, but neither 1 billion people listening despacito win vs one of us is listening to your songs!
Greetings from Italy!

p.s. I promise i will take a C2 english level :^) .. (among other things, i need it for my academic career)
p.p.s Geat Act. 3 <3

God the VIBE of this song. It's so heavy, so dark in a sense, cause I can see it as romantic! sure, two lovers wanting to escape, but then these lyrics

"I feared that every flower that appeared had been uprooted by my peers"
"but then my autumn prayers were heard"
"And I'll have my just deserts"

appear and it makes me question, just how pure is it really...

Regardless, this song is SO GOOD! On a binge of yours songs and so far I have not run into one I did not enjoy ♥

Honestly, an absolute modern masterpiece. Between the vocals, the orchestral tones and instruments, and the forboding tones the song itself sets. You just get absorbed by it. Just, absolutely amazing what you've done with this one.

@Bugsabo1983

@aydenwoyus7943

radicallizard I agree, I think this has to be my favorite of their album's. It has so many good songs like lady hell, wasteland, irony, great vacations, and a lot more. They never cease to impress.

@deadsoon

I found you guys on Spotify some weeks ago and I am extremely impressed by this! I'm sharing the song like crazy because I want everyone to listen to it. The delivery is on point and it pulls you in, and the instrumental is amazing.

@fadeyka9879

A deep sadness takes over me when i think about how underrated yall are. I came from a web comic called HellPark, and they used your song 'great vacation' as an animatic. I checked out your other music because that one was so good, and holy shit. My favourite ones have to be the most upbeat with sombre undertones in them. I really adore 'Welcome to lady hell' and i hella wanna make an animation with it. All your music is just so rich and beautiful. It all feels like it has so much love and care packed into every single word. Im ashamed that i haven't heard it sooner. ❤❤❤

@liviwaslost

I feel you
