Overall Meaning

From the opening lines of "More I See" by Discharge, the listener is drawn into a bleak world of darkness and despair. The lyrics convey a sense of hopelessness and disillusionment, as the singer surveys the world around them and finds it filled with nothing but suffering and pain. The phrase "From where I stand I see" emphasizes the personal nature of their perspective, suggesting that this is not just a generalized condemnation of humanity, but a deeply felt experience of the world.

The repetition of the chorus underscores the theme of disbelief and disillusionment that runs throughout the song. As the singer sees more and more evidence of the world's darkness, they find it increasingly difficult to believe in a better future. The somber tone of the music reinforces this mood, with a relentless march rhythm that seems to echo the unstoppable forces of oppression and violence that the lyrics describe.

Overall, "More I See" is a powerful and uncompromising critique of modern society, and a testament to the enduring power of punk rock to give voice to the marginalized and dispossessed.

16 June 2020, Palermo, Sicily, Italy.
I have loved the Discharge since the 1980s and I am so old now that if I attempted to do some pogo dancing my knees, hips and spine would snap yet when I happen to listen to The More I See I think it is the most danceable song by the Discharge and despite my decrepit state this song always deserves me doing some shake, boogie and twirk, no matter what!

I finally got to see discharge at the farm in San Francisco in 87' the kids hated the new discharge, and the show ended up abruptly, the threw them off the stage because they wanted the old Discharge so that's how it went and I wished to see there complete set? Didn't happen the show ended with the first song and the crowd took satisfaction in booing them off the stage, my only chance at seeing discharge here in San Francisco CA, a very disappointed time!

The idea of a cover is to put your style in a song that was created by another author.

It's not a competition, you can like both, one more than other, but what matters in the end is, when a world famous band introduces you to a whole new world because of a cover. 🤘
