Thank you for sharing this speech. I'm in my 30s, i have struggled with alcohol almost ten years, so pretty much from the first time I started drinking. A lot of drunken actions in my 20s were seen and forgiven as drunken mistakes.
But as I get older, rightfully, people are less willing to brush these mistakes off because they're part of a larger pattern.
I went from having a crew that would go out to drink and party with with me, to they would warn me "hey you weren't ok last night", to not going out with me anymore, to drinking at bars alone, to just drinking at home alone.
I have a stubborn refusal to acknowledge the reality (the problem is me), to point to "the good times" as "proof" I can get it all together again and have those good times I don't need to stop.
But if that were true I wouldn't be where I am now. If I could moderate, I would.
Thank you for sharing this. I suppose in my head even though I know for a FACT engaging in alcoholic impulses only leads to misery, I have FOMO really badly.
But I'm trying to change my thinking about this, and this video is a piece in that puzzle, so thank you ❤️

Mike alcoholic/addict. I’m on day 75. Found something in my apartment that was a tool from when I was using. I freaked out. Heart went into my throat. I immediately washed off the remains and threw it away. Went to go to a meeting and it had been cancelled and the app now updated. So on my drive home I’m out Alcoholics Anonymous into my you tube and found this. It worked. This will get me to my 7am meeting. Thankyou AA and this beautiful fellowship of drunks. I’d be lost without you.
