Monti is generally considered to be the first disco artist to cross into the mainstream. In February 1975, Monti released Disco Tex and His Sex-O-Lettes, an LP of disco songs and collaboration with producer Bob Crewe and featuring musician Jerry Corbetta of Sugarloaf. Two of the album's tracks, "Get Dancin'" and "I Wanna Dance Wit' Choo (Doo Dat Dance)", became instant staples at burgeoning New York dance clubs including Studio 54. By the end of the 70s, disco music was fully mainstream, and Monti appeared in the movie Saturday Night Fever as the DJ.
He currently resides and performs in Las Vegas.

The lyrics to Disco Tex & The Sex-O-Lettes's song "Get Dancin'" are a call to action for people to hit the dance floor and let loose. The repetition of the phrase "get dancing" throughout the song emphasizes the importance of dancing as a form of release and entertainment. The mention of DJ Disco Tex and his Sex-O-Lettes adds to the party atmosphere and suggests that the music being played is of a high standard, guaranteed to make people dance.
The lyrics also make reference to other popular songs of the time, such as "Boogie-woogie" which was a popular dance trend in the 1970s. The line "Radar love is here, the star of stars" could be interpreted as a reference to the popular rock song "Radar Love" by Golden Earring, which was also released in 1973.
