During the next two years, Dismal Euphony released two full-length albums, Soria Moria Slott and Autumn Leaves - The Rebellion of Tides. The latter included the song Splendid Horror, which is more industrial-like, as well as a 'hidden' part at the end of that track.
In 1998, both vocalist Linn Achre Tveit and keyboardist Elin Overskott (who died of an heroin overdose in 2004) left the band. They were replaced by Anja Natasha (vocals) and Svenn-Aksel Henriksen (keyboards).
With the new line-up, the band recorderd and released the album All Little Devils and the EP Lady Ablaze. Dismal Euphony's last full-length Python Zero saw the light of day in 2001. After that, the band split up.
Shine For Me Misery
Dismal Euphony Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Devils rapture their coils
Suffer the fathomless end
Until we parche, with sermons, again
Strangle me slowly
Enter my palace of pain
Cover your screams
Pass me the bottle
Pass me the venomous wine
Pass me this deadly brew
And I will drink and die, again
Shine for me lust and thorns
Compromise carven in suns
Hatred of my own feet
I will never be able to walk this ground, again
The rain has waited too long, too long
Pass me the bottle and i will drink and die, again
Shine for me, Misery
In "Shine For Me Misery" by Dismal Euphony, the songwriter is exploring the theme of self-destruction and the allure of misery. The opening line "Shine for me, misery" sets the tone of the song, as if the singer is addressing the emotion itself as if it were a deity. The second line, "Devils rapture their coils," suggests that the singer is in the grip of demonic forces, potentially self-inflicted addiction or mental illness. The third line, "Suffer the fathomless end," indicates that the singer has reached a point of no return, where the misery seems unending.
The next verse shifts to the physicality of pain, as the singer invites pain and suffering into their life ("Strangle me slowly/Enter my palace of pain"). The fourth line, "Cover your screams" adds a layer of isolation, as if the singer is alone in their struggle. The singer then turns to alcohol as a coping mechanism, calling for "the bottle" and "venomous wine" to "drink and die, again." It's not clear whether this is a literal or figurative death, but the sentiment is clear: the singer is willing to do whatever it takes to escape their pain.
The final verse returns to the theme of misery and its grip on the singer's life. They describe feeling trapped on the earth, hating their own existence ("Hatred of my own feet/I will never be able to walk this ground, again"). The song ends with a repetition of the opening line, as if the singer is doomed to be trapped in their misery forever.

@Hey Ho I decided to just go ahead and give you album recommendations since metal bands seldomly have immaculate discographies, and it could be a tedious process to find the diamonds in the rough. These are some of my favorite gothic black metal albums, though in most cases it will be quite literal in what it sounds like. As you'll come to see, it very rarely gets close to the Dismal Euphony sound of All Little Devils. Maybe more akin to the early Dismal Euphony of Soria Moria and Autumn Leaves. The thing that made Dismal Euphony so interesting as a band was their experimentation. By the end with Python Zero, you feel an almost avant-garde spirit in them. Who knows where they could have taken their style next if they hadn't disbanded. I hope you can get some enjoyment of these nonetheless. Top tier musicianship. (Also, I didn't add Cradle of Filth because they are really well known and I'm sure you probably already know of them. Their music is a no brainer for gothic black metal.)

Ever since I was a young boy, I had wanted to find a sound like theirs again. I've listened to so much gothic black metal, but it just doesn't give me Dismal Euphony vibes. They truly tapped into something special.
