Wind
Distressor Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Do you fear the wind around you dear?
It controls you
Let it in, if you want to it's here
All too often
Roaring winds surrounding
Your dreams so enthralling
Make a call, we're all shouting
I'm moved by
Your lonely thoughts and I can't keep
Watching in anguish
While you're thrown all around

Do you hear leaves crackling near
Look around you
You'll keep chasing energy
That will harm you
Bleed deep into the earth
Skin always crawling
We both want all the same things

I'm moved by
Your lonely thoughts and I can't keep
Watching in anguish
While you're thrown all around

I'm moved by
Your lonely thoughts and I can't keep

Watching in anguish
While you're thrown all around

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Distressor's song "Wind" paint a vivid picture of the power of nature and its ability to control us. The opening line, "Do you fear the wind around you dear?" sets the tone for the rest of the song, as the wind is used as a metaphor for the forces that are beyond our control. The singer encourages the listener to "Let it in, if you want to it's here", suggesting that embracing the power of the wind can be a step towards accepting things that we cannot change.

The next few lines describe the overwhelming feeling of being surrounded by the wind - "Roaring winds surrounding, your dreams so enthralling." Despite the chaos of the wind, the singer offers comfort in the form of support from others - "Make a call, we're all shouting." The chorus then repeats the idea that the singer is "moved by your lonely thoughts" and cannot bear to see the listener struggling to deal with the overwhelming forces around them.

The second verse takes a darker turn, warning against the dangers of pursuing energy that can ultimately harm us - "You'll keep chasing energy that will harm you." The line "Bleed deep into the earth, skin always crawling" paints a vivid picture of the physical toll that this can take on a person. In the final lines of the song, the singer emphasizes that despite these struggles, "We both want all the same things." Whether it's coping with the power of the wind or navigating life's challenges, we all ultimately want the same things - love, support, and understanding.

Damn, those fast rolls sound insanely good. Mad props to the drummer too, he's good.

Cameron Fleury

thanks man!

Sean Tierson

That last drummer was by far the best drummer you've ever had on, Glenn. Best playing, best set up with a good mix of ergonomic aspects and recording in mind, and by far the best snare sound!

Simon Lilja

I actually thought the snare sound was more pleasing to my ears with the software compression. So tight and punchy.

Charf Lord

@Rory London I preferred the hardware compression myself, but I thought that the software did a great job as well. Still had good life to it.

Rory London

I preferred the hardware compression, myself, as it brought out more of the room's sound. The software compression was really dry and bland, IMO.

Smung

Hey Glenn, With all these new mixing/recording techniques you've learned, I think it would be interesting to hear a new version of The Eagle Has Landed with reamped guitars and bass ran through the darkglass amp in a side by side comparison to your older version.

Springloaded

Holy cow! That drumming was a pleasure to watch. Amazing control! Merry Christmas Cameron!

Cameron Fleury

Merry Christmas!

Quincy Kane Morris

In the first 2 comparisons, I think I actually favored the software compressed snare because I like a snappy snare with a lot of crack; although I could hear an "explosive" quality to the hardware compressed snare. However, I thought the sound of the snare for the playthrough at the end sounded best; it seemed to have a good balance of both those qualities.
