Disturbed Lyrics

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on
I'm a-talking to you, so, come on

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on (come get it on, come get it on)
I'm a-talking to you
So, come on (come get it on, come get it on)

In violent times
You shouldn't have to sell your soul
In black and white
They really, really ought to know (they just don't know)

Those one-track minds
Who took you for a working whore
Kiss them goodbye
You shouldn't have to jump for joy (jump, jump, jump, jump)
You shouldn't have to shout for joy

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on (come get it on, come get it on)
I'm a-talking to you, so, come on (come get it on, come get it on)

They gave you life
And in return, you gave 'em hell
As cold as ice (now, bitch, you're ice, ice, baby)
I hope we live to tell the tale
I hope we live to shout the tale

Shout, shout, let it all out

These are the things I can do without
Come on (come get it on, come get it on)
I'm a-talking to you, so, come on

Will you never shout?
I feel it building, are you ever gonna let it all out?
Will you never shout?
I feel it building, are you ever gonna let it all out?

Will you never shout?
I feel it building, are you ever gonna let it all out?
Will you never shout?
I feel it building, are you ever gonna let it?

And when you've taken down your guard
If I could change your mind
I'd really love to break your heart (break, break, break, break, break)
I'd really love to break your heart

Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on (come get it on, come get it on, come get it on, come get it on)
I'm a-talking to you, so, come on (come get it on, come get it on)

I'd really love to shout, shout (come on, le-let me shout, shout, let it all out)
Let it all out (these are the things I can do without, so come on)
These are the things I can do without (but come on, baby, I'm a-talking to you, a-come on)
(But come on, baby, let me shout, shout, let me shout)
Come on (come on, baby, let me shout, shout, let it all out)
I'm talking to you, so, come on (these are the things I can do without, so come on)
Shout, shout (but come on, baby, I'm a-talking to you, a-come on)
Shout, shout (but come on, baby, let me shout, shout, let me shout)

Shout
Shout

Come on, le-let me shout, shout, let me
Come on, le-let me shout, shout (shout)
Come on, le-let me shout, shout, let me
Come on, le-let me shout, shout (shout)

Overall Meaning

"Shout 2000" by Disturbed is a cover of the classic song "Shout" by Tears for Fears. The song is a call to action for people to speak up against injustices and societal pressures that force them to "sell their souls." In the first verse, the singer urges listeners to let out what they've been holding inside and to shout out against things they can do without. In the second verse, the singer speaks to the working class, telling them to leave behind those who take advantage of them and do not appreciate their hard work.

The chorus repeats the phrase "Shout, shout, let it all out" and emphasizes the things the singer can do without, calling for others to join in and speak their minds. The bridge of the song has the singer expressing hope that people will live to tell the tale of the injustices they have faced and overcome. The final verses convey the singer's desire to break down barriers and encourage listeners to speak their truth, even if it means breaking hearts or taking down guards.

Overall, "Shout 2000" is a powerful call to action for individuals to speak out against societal pressures and injustices. It encourages listeners to let out what they've been holding inside and to fight against those who take advantage of them. The song's intense lyrics are supported by the band's heavy instrumentation and passionate vocals, making it a definitive track in Disturbed's discography.

David Draiman a truly respectable artist not just a frontman he is very educated he said his family is so strict certain ones turned there back on him when he decided to leave the medical field to pursue music we should all tilt our hats to him for giving up everything to give us timeless music!

@mrconfusion87

He probably will never earn as much nor seen as much of the world in the medical field had he stuck with it! 😂

@TooMuchSascha

Lmao "timeless"

@SunajVon

I didn't know that, thank you :)

@Vall619

I wonder how his family reacted when they knew their David got to be a succesful artist lol

@lunartears6761

Damn he almost became a doctor?! Then he is indeed intelligent! Good thing he didn’t Perdue a medical career. I would not be exaggerating if I said I owe much of my survival to Disturbed. I started antidepressants for depression In highschool because I had little time to do anything fun (I always had to study, but it took longer due to my Aspergers) and struggled to understand why I felt the way I did. I had a nice, two loving parents and went to a small private school and great classmates and teachers, so it frustrated me for years as to why it was hard to be happy, impossible during certain spells. Disturbed helped me and even motivated me when I was at my worst (there were 2 times in my life where I had serious suicidal thoughts) and the song that helped in my first year of College when one those times occurred, was ‘The Light’ from Immortalized. I didn’t even know they had released a new album until I went to youtube. It still sounded like disturbed but I could definitely tell that Draiman was in a better place emotionally with the album’s tone. Now if only I had known about Korn & Slipknot at the time.
