The Light
Disturbed [2015 - Immortalized] Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The truth is waiting there for you to find it
It's not a blight, but a remedy
A clear reminder of how it began
Deep inside your memory
Turned away as you struggled to find it
You heard the call as you walked away
A voice of calm from within the silence
You're waiting, hoping it would call out again
You heard the shadow reckoning
Then your fears seemed to keep you blinded
You held your guard as you walked away
When you think all is forsaken
Listen to me now (all is not forsaken)
You need never feel broken again
Sometimes darkness can show you the light
An unforgivable tragedy
The answer isn't' where you think you'd find it
Prepare yourself for the reckoning
For when your world seems to crumble again
Don't be afraid, don't turn away
You’re the one who can redefine it
Don't let hope become a memory
Let the shadow permeate your mind and
Reveal the thoughts that were tucked away
So that the door can be opened again
Within your darkest memories
Lies the answer if you dare to find it
Don't let hope become a memory
When you think all is forsaken
Listen to me now (all is not forsaken)
You need never feel broken again
Sometimes darkness can show you the light
Sickening, weakening
Don't let another somber pariah consume your soul
You need strengthening, toughening
It takes an inner dark to rekindle the fire burning in you
Ignite the fire within you
When you think all is forsaken
Listen to me now (all is not forsaken)
You need never feel broken again
Sometimes darkness can show you the light
Don't ignore, listen to me now (all is not forsaken)
You need never feel broken again
Sometimes darkness
Can show you the light
In "The Light," Disturbed uses powerful language and vivid imagery to convey a message of hope and perseverance. The song suggests that, even in the darkest of times, there is always a glimmer of light to be found. The opening lines, "Like an unsung melody, the truth is waiting there for you to find it," set the tone for the rest of the song. The lyrics encourage listeners to keep searching for answers and not to give up in the face of adversity.
The song is highly introspective, exploring the idea that our darkest memories may hold the key to overcoming our challenges. The line, "Within your darkest memories lies the answer if you dare to find it," invites listeners to confront their fears and embrace their pain as a way to move forward.
Throughout "The Light," Disturbed uses repetition to reinforce its message of hope. The chorus, which repeats the line "When you think all is forsaken, listen to me now," is a powerful reminder that even in the bleakest moments, there is always a way to find the light.
Overall, "The Light" is an inspiring song that encourages listeners to face their fears and hold onto hope, no matter what life throws their way.

I don't discuss my feelings or past with my family because they don't understand my struggles.
I was homeless for 2years, and I lost custody of my Three older children due to issues with an ex.
It wasn't until December 2018 that I met my now wife, this song makes so much sense.
If it wasn't for all the pain and suffering I had to endure I would not be here now, no matter what took place in the past.
Disturbed have a way of touching peoples hearts with their lyrics, not just because they're a good band. I believe it's more because David and the rest are speaking/singing/writing from their own experiences.
Not many people are willing to step up especially men and say "I need help, I am struggling" It doesn't make you WEAK, it doesn't make you any LESS of a man to need someone.
This song and "A reason to fight" are amazing.. The Awareness you have all raised in regards to addiction/suicide/drepression/ptsd is outstanding.
Much love to you all,
Never give up

@Furzkampfbomber
Congratulations. I don't know your backstory, but you have just proven to be stronger than most people.
And I know what I am talking about, having lost years of my life to depression, having to see all my dreams shutter and to face the reality that everything I wanted to achieve in life when I was young turned sour.
But fuck it. Let people laugh. Let them judge. Because you know what? We came back from a very bad and incredibly dark place. A place where many people would not come back from.
So the plans you had crumbled? Your life comes apart on the seams? Hell yeah, I know exactly how scary that it and how much it hurts. But please, always, always remember two things...
Suicide is a very permanent solution for a temporary problem.
And by not doing it, you already have shown that you are much stronger than all those people who are so proud of their supposedly successful lifes. Fuck them.

Whether you wear your scars on your skin or on your soul, wear them with pride. They are not marks of what has been destroyed but reminders of what you have survived. Each line is a victory over what could have destroyed you, yet you won.
