Fresh off of his breakthrough performance on BET's 106&Park where he captured the nations attention with "Top Knotch Steez" 19 year old Dizzy D Flashy is a lyrical phenomenon and one of the hottest up and coming HipHop talents to anticipate. Based in Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world, Dizzy has managed to use the city as a platform to launch his career and has already been stirring up all sorts of action.
No stranger to entertainment, Dizzy began his career at the age of ten as a youth reporter interviewing major celebrities such as Nelly, Jessica Simpson, Magic Johnson, & Boys II Men with his younger brother K.J. The young brothers began recording songs and before they knew it were asked to perform at high profile events such as Magic Johnson's Mid Summer Nights Mardi Gras where they made their first performance on the same stage as B2K. Not long after, R & B singer turned actor, Tyrese called them up on the stage during a photo OP at the 3rd Annual BET Awards in Los Angeles and introduced them to the media as DaFuture. The brothers really liked that name and decided that’s what they would be called from that point on.
Under the direction and guidance of their Uncle Layzie Bone, of the multi-platinum rap group Bone thugs-n-harmony the two brothers recorded many songs including one featuring Cassidy while working in the studio with Swizz Beatz. However, reality was beginning to set in as their mom simply could not afford to put anymore money into their young careers. As a result of Dizzy’s family financial problems, the teenagers of a single mom were forced to focus on school and give music a temporary rest. Dizzy calls this his inspiration for the song “Dreams on Hold”. In total DaFuture won three awards in three years (2005, 2006 & 2007) at the annual Las Vegas Music Awards including "Best Hip-Hop Group".
Now, almost two years later Dizzy has stepped out on his own as a solo performer. He’s been grinding in the studio almost everyday after school working on songs for his debut album. While in pursuit of the right major situation he plans to spread positive energy through his music. Hopefully allowing people to not only groove to his songs but be able to understand his young perception of life through his eyes with his dynamic and crystal clear ability to flow in a variety of styles to a variety of speaker bumping beats. “I’ve learned the hard way that you can be the coolest kid on the block and still have a good head on your shoulders; education is the key to the future, it’s important no matter what career you are pursuing,” exclaims the young entertainer.
Over the years Dizzy has been in the studio with many major recording artist and producers and has had the pleasure to work with many. Even though he is a hip-hop artist, he’s worked with R & B producers that have produced hit records for Missy Elliott, Alicia Keys, Destiny's Child, Mario and many, many more. Dizzy is sure to be right there among some of today’s hottest young entertainers that go straight for the top. He has his own swag and he prolifically displays this on his debut single "Swagg It Out" which is beginning to create a major buzz in his hometown of Las Vegas.
Roll My Weed
Dizzy Wright Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Police don't fuck with me
Let me roll my weed
Hoping that they pass me by
'Cause they always tryna ask me "why?"
Let me smoke my weed
Leave a nigga alone
I ain't doin' nothing
Yeah, we burning something
Let me roll my weed
Let me roll my weed
This is a special occasion
We giving them what they demanded
Couldn't tell you we didn't plan it
Over-seeking the planet
High as hell you can tell
Smoking out the hotel
Putting the towels down
To hide your smell
I went from eating Mickey-D's
To eating medicated chicken wings
The more we learn the laws
We paint the city green
Is that up for discussion? (No)
Yeah we stay out the way
'Cause police handcuff you for nothing
Catch you, holding you in the holding tank
For smoking dank
Passing by I hope they don't see me
But shit, I know they can't
Wanna smoke?
You know I do
Now run away
Nigga dumped them Swisher guts
Up in the Swisher box
By the way you acting
I can tell that you ain't lived a lot
A pound a month, I'm still in shock
Feeling like Curry
Putting up another pretty shot
You could hate me
But you gotta give me props
Dizzy hot
Telling Demrick
"Until you finished watch out for all these fucking city cops"
'Cause these motherfuckas
See me rolling down the street
Police don't fuck with me
Let me roll my weed
Hoping that they pass me by
'Cause they always tryna ask me "why?"
Let me smoke my weed
Leave a nigga alone
I ain't doin' nothing
Hot-boxing windows up
Yeah, we burning something
Let me roll my weed
Let me roll my weed
Caught in traffic with my niggas
We gon' smoke for sure
And let it off
Rolled down the window
Like a open door
Me and the street life
Got a closed divorce
So nowadays I get paid off my vocal cords
With no remorse
Roll extendos in the venue
Smoking out the party
Now let's see what we get into
I've been dodging police since the days of sipping 40's
With my homies
Now I'm riding by my lonely
Getting stony
No phonies in your circle
Puffing purple past curfew
Police wanna stop, cuff, and search you
Tryna hurt you
Niggas getting pissed
Police scanners don't alert you
So I got the medi-card
To go and get my personal
This marijuana movement's universal
So I'm tryin' plant my seeds to grow
'Fore it all goes to commercial
Blaze up the herbal
They say patience is a virtue
No lie!
Police tryna blow my high
All the time
See me rolling down the street
Police don't fuck with me
Let me roll my weed
Hoping that they pass me by
'Cause they always tryna ask me "why?"
Let me smoke my weed
Leave a nigga alone
I ain't doin' nothing
Hot-boxing windows up
Yeah, we burning something
Let me roll my weed
Let me roll my weed
The lyrics to Dizzy Wright & Demrick's song Roll My Weed are an anthem to people who love to smoke weed and just want to be left alone. The song starts with the artist rolling down the street, hoping that the police won´t mess with him, let him smoke his weed, and pass by him without asking any question. The lyrics showcase the harsh reality of people, especially black men, who are frequently stopped and harassed by the police because of their usage of weed, even though it is legal in some states.
As the song continues, Dizzy Wright and Demrick emphasize the importance of smoking weed. They believe that this plant can positively impact people, and it should be legally accessible to everyone. The lyric "This marijuana movement's universal, so I'm tryna plant my seeds to go" highlights the artist´s desire to educate people, spread awareness about the benefits of weed, and make it accessible to everyone.
Finally, the song portrays the need to stay away from law enforcement because they can cuff and search you for smoking weed, and it can lead to severe implications. Nonetheless, the artists are determined to smoke weed and not let the police intervene with their activity. In short, the lyrics to Roll My Weed emphasize the artists' desire to smoke weed and not be bothered by the police.
