To Know Him Is to Love Him
Dodie Stevens Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Is to love, love, love him
Just to see him smile
Makes my life worthwhile
To know, know, know him
Is to love, love, love him
L be good to him
Everyone says there'll come a day
When I'll walk alongside of him
Yes, yes to know him
Is to love, love, love him
And I do (And I do, and I)
(And I do, and I)
(And I do, and I)
(And I do, and I)
Why can't he see me?
How blind can he be?
Someday he will see
That he was meant for me, oh oh, yes
To know, know, know him
Is to love, love, love him
Just to see him smile
Makes my life worthwhile
To know, know, know him
Is to love, love, love him
And I do (And I do, and I)
(And I do, and I)
Yes, I do
(And I do, and I)
(And I do, and I)
Yes, I do
(And I do, and I)
(And I do, and I)
The lyrics of Dodie Stevens's song "To Know Him Is to Love Him" are all about a young woman who is head over heels in love with a man who she believes is meant to be with her. She sings about how knowing him has made her fall in love with him, and even just seeing him smile makes her life worth living. The woman promises to be good to him, to bring love to him, and everyone around her can see that she is hopelessly in love with him. She longs for the day when she can walk alongside him, and wishes that he could truly see her for who she is.
The song beautifully conveys the universal longing for love, and how knowing someone deeply can change your life forever. It also highlights the sadness of unrequited love and the feeling of being invisible to the person you are hopelessly devoted to. Overall, the lyrics are timeless in their simplicity yet powerful in their emotional depth.
