California-born vocalist Sierra Swan and the bassist Graham Edwards from Scotland, who
in 1997 began collaborating after an impromptu jam session at a Los Angeles studio.
The band released their first and only album Frozen Charlotte in 1998. Critics have likened
Dollshead's sound to that of the bands Garbage and Curve.
At present the two members of the duo work separately on other musical projects: Sierra
released a solo album in 2006 and Graham is a member of the music production team
The Matrix.
Perfect Day
Dolls Head Lyrics

When you said to me that day
That you'd try to be so keen
But yet such a fly by
You want it both ways
It's just not one of those days
Put the shadow on yourself
Your face is so tie-dye
In your future endeavors
And this I only see
You're trying to be me
It's a perfect day
No sex allowed
It's a perfect day
I'm laughing out loud
You're funny that way
And you said to me that day
Just take the kerosene
And blow it all sky high
No you're not that pretty, dear
In this part of the city
You're getting hard to see
And looking so like me
It's a perfect day
No sex allowed
It's a perfect day
I'm laughing out loud
It's a perfect day
No sex allowed
It's a perfect day
I'm laughing out loud
It's a perfect day
No sex allowed
It's a perfect day
I'm laughing out loud
In Dolls Head's song "Perfect Day," the lyrics describe a dysfunctional relationship where one person is trying to imitate the other. The singer reflects on a conversation where their partner tried to act cool but ultimately failed. The partner wants to have it both ways, but it's just not going to happen on this particular day. The singer then criticizes their partner's lack of smarts and future prospects. Additionally, the partner is dressing and acting like the singer, to the point where they are becoming hard to distinguish from each other. Despite all this, the singer seems to be laughing it off and enjoying the day.
The song seems to address themes of identity, emulation, and insecurity in relationships. The partner is trying to fit into the mold of the singer and is becoming a reflection of them, leading to an unsettling sense of sameness between the two. However, the singer also acknowledges their amusement with the situation, leading to a somewhat ambiguous tone. The repeated line "it's a perfect day, no sex allowed," further underscores the unconventional and complicated nature of the relationship.
