Superhero
Donots Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Stuck between
The cheapest thrills tonight
Hello, what's up, good-bye
Everyone's cool
But nothing feels alright

Until I finally get you on the phone
To tell you that I'm feeling down

My hero
Won't you come and save my day?
My hero
Let's talk the night away
My hero
Please alleviate the hurt
My hero
The two of us against the world
Against the world

They're talking
A thousand words - zero contents
And everyone keeps smiling
A fist in the pocket while shaking hands

The meaning's gone
Everything is gone
Everything is gone

So I finally pick up the pen
To write this letter to my friend

My hero
Won't you come and save my day?
My hero
Let's talk the night away
My hero
Please alleviate the hurt
My hero
The two of us against the world
Against the world

Everything is gone

So I finally get you on the phone
To tell you that I'm coming home

My hero
Won't you come and save my day?
My hero
Let's talk the night away
My hero
Please alleviate the hurt
My hero
The two of us against the world
My hero
Won't you come and save my day?
My hero
Let's talk the night away
My hero
Please alleviate the hurt
My hero

The two of us against the world
Against the world

Overall Meaning

The Donots' "Superhero" is a powerful song about feeling lost and disconnected in a world that seems to have lost its meaning. The lyrics describe a moment when everything feels wrong and the only thing that can make it better is talking to a friend. The singer of the song is stuck between "the cheapest thrills" and the emptiness of a world where "everyone's cool" but "nothing feels alright." He longs for someone to come and save him, to alleviate his hurt and be his hero.

The song contrasts the meaningless chatter of others with the deep connection he feels to his friend, who is his true hero. The singer writes a letter to his friend, and finally, when he feels like everything is gone, he gets him on the phone to tell him he is coming home. The two of them are against the world, and that is enough to make everything better.

Overall, "Superhero" is a poignant portrayal of the need for human connection in a world that feels meaningless. Through its lyrics, the song inspires hope that even in the darkest moments, someone can be a hero to us and help us find our way.

First heard this when I was 13, now I'm 29 and I still like the fact that Mike Dirnt played in a german band too

Gretev1

I don‘t get it. Did Mike Dirnt actually play in this band? Or another German band I don‘t know of?

Das Lied passt extrem zu denen, zumindest für diejenigen die schon seit 10 Jahren Donots hören und nicht erst seit ein paar Wochen!! Man merkt vielleicht, dass die Band eine lange Entwicklung hinter sich hat ;)
