1. Dora is a collaboration of two musicians based in Rīga, Latvia coming from different musical backgrounds.
Gatis Zaķis as a sound artist and a producer is focusing on sound textures and noises using them as musical instruments while Jānis Šipkēvics (Shipsea) brings to the palette vocal polyphony and piano textures influenced by 20th century minimalists.
Duo's soundscape consists of those two different approaches which then complement and contrast each other in continuos tides of a musical piece.
Sense of what purpose and aesthetics music should embody is the connecting thread in Dora.

2. Dora began in 1999.
The band released Dead Horse Lounge in 2001 on Smith Seven Records/Madeline Records that was recorded by Matt Talbott (singer/guitarist for HUM) and mixed by Keith Cleversley (producer/engineer for HUM, Spiritualized, Mercury Rev,The Flaming Lips). Dora's only full length combines indie rock with an ambient soundscape that only some young dudes from Memphis could put together. Ben Canady's pained lyrics mix with Brandon Kinder's infectious guitar melodies created an album that was well ahead of its time.
The band broke up in 2002. Members are now in This Is Goodbye and Homer Hiccolm & The Rocke Boys.
3. Dora is the female Portuguese singer, who participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986 with Não Sejas Mau Para Mim, and again in 1988 with Voltarei.
4. Dora is a Romanian pop singer who took part in the Romanian national final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2006. She came 3rd with the song Brand New Feeling.
5. Dora is a Greek female composer, mostly for theatre. In 2007 she recorded a downtempo album In Your City the Moon Lives on the 11th Floor, including the radio hit Streets Are Crowded.
Quiéreme
Dora Lyrics

(Coro)
Prende en llamas sus ojitos
Tiene el corazón vacío
Son las llamas del olvido
Quiéreme aunque no es tu estilo.
The lyrics of Dora's song Quiéreme portray a story of a love that is growing slowly but surely. The singer's partner tells her to love him "poco a poco," step by step, just like the slowly-draining summer rain and the dying white rose. The singer falls for her partner like the drops of sweat on his forehead that fall on the Nile river. And when the singer looks at the moon, she sees her partner's eyes in it, eyes that have the power to heal her. The singer longs for her partner's love and asks for the stars to bring her closer to him.
The singer says that she is crossing all the seas to be with her partner, even if she is forgotten along the way. She carries her heart with her and hopes that her partner can mend it like a child. The singer sings this song to see her partner, but is afraid that she might be with him for too long. As the flames of passion burn in her partner's eyes, the singer realizes that he has a "corazón maldito" - a cursed heart. Despite all of this, the singer begs her partner to love her even if it's not his style.
In summary, Dora's song Quiéreme speaks of a love that is growing slowly but surely, a love that may be difficult to attain but is worth pursuing nonetheless.
