Day's film career began during the latter part of the Classical Hollywood Film era with the 1948 film Romance on the High Seas, and its success sparked her twenty-year career as a motion picture actress. She starred in a series of successful films, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. She played the title role in Calamity Jane (1953), and starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) with James Stewart. Her most successful films were the bedroom comedies she made co-starring Rock Hudson and James Garner, such as Pillow Talk (1959) and Move Over, Darling (1963), respectively. She also co-starred in films with such leading men as Clark Gable, Cary Grant, David Niven, and Rod Taylor. After her final film in 1968, she went on to star in the CBS sitcom The Doris Day Show (1968–1973).
Day was usually one of the top ten singers between 1951 and 1966. As an actress, she became the biggest female film star in the early 1960s, and ranked sixth among the box office performers by 2012. In 2011, she released her 29th studio album, My Heart, which became a UK Top 10 album featuring new material. Among her awards, Day has received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Legend Award from the Society of Singers. In 1960, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and in 1989 was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. In 2004, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush followed in 2011 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. She was one of the last surviving stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, on Monday 13th May 2019.

Two Hearts Two Kisses
Doris Day Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Two hearts make you feel crazy
One kiss makes you feel so nice
Two kisses put you in paradise
Two hearts, two kisses make one love
Two hearts beat as one, dear
Two arms make me know that you care
Your kiss is hotter than an oven
Two hearts, two kisses make one love
Loving you baby is my desire
I know that you can set this world afire
A little spark is burning deep inside
Love should be made by two
Two hearts beat as one, dear
Two arms will make me know that you care
I have plenty of loving
Your kiss is hotter than an oven
Two hearts, two kisses make one love
Oh, loving you, baby, is my desire
I know that you can set this world afire
A little spark is burning down deep inside
But love should be made by two
One heart is not enough, baby
Two hearts make you feel crazy
One kiss makes you feel so nice
Two kisses put you in paradise
Two hearts, two kisses make one love
Two hearts, two kisses make one love
The lyrics of "Two Hearts Two Kisses" by Doris Day revolves around the idea that two hearts and two kisses are necessary to experience true love. The song reflects on the notion that one heart and one kiss are not enough to truly feel the passion of love. The lyrics suggest that two hearts connect and beat as one, while two arms make the other person feel that one cares. Furthermore, the singer emphasizes on the importance of both physical and emotional intimacy by referencing how a single kiss may make one feel nice, but two kisses will take one to paradise.
The chorus is the highlight of the song, which echoes the idea repeatedly that two hearts and two kisses make one love. The verse stresses that one cannot experience or enjoy the true essence of love alone, and love can only be created when two people come together. The song's tone is upbeat and romantic, reflecting the message of love that the song conveys.
Overall, Two Hearts Two Kisses portrays a vision of love that is passionate, romantic, and intimately connected. The song's lyrics convey the message that to experience true love, one needs to have both physical and emotional intimacy, and both sides have to come together to create a shared connection.
