2) The Norwegian duo of Tor Dybdahl and Geir Sinding, who made a lot of demos but only one single (December Rain) in 1985.
3) Crawling out of the corners of Waterford, Michigan’s lake-infested terrain, four kids have pooled their collective apathy and general angst to create a group aptly named Downers. Their standout mixture of rock, punk, and hardcore evolved from their personal takes on the punk of movement of their youth. Inspired by the origination of passionate hardcore music and catchy pop punk, Downers have taken heavy music back to its roots, but with a style all their own.
Looking to supplement their more-than-adequate debut Nothing Looks Good LP, the group took time out this summer to write and record a brand new EP entitled Digital Teens, which they feel accurately showcases the growth of their sound. Downers enlisted the skills of Nothing Looks Good producer Mark Michalik at his new Sentient Studios location in Chicago, IL. “We’ve known Mark for years. We knew we could trust him to make us sound the best we could,” states vocalist Casey Mansfield. Extremely excited about this new music, Downers have been pursuing good karma, posting two songs a month for listeners, as well as leaking it online for the more net-savvy scene members. Downers have also been looking to release the EP officially as a very limited 7” vinyl pressing.
Downers, comprised of Mansfield (vocals), Joel Barron (guitars/vocals), and Brian Warner (drums) recently completed their line-up with bassist and rat-tail extraordinaire Jason Lewallen upon the departure of longtime bass player and friend Mayberry. "Mayberry was one of the only people we could really connect with. When he left we knew we had huge shoes to fill. We knew Jason through some friends and it sort of just fell into place," recalls Barron. Having played a grueling 50-75 shows-per-year for the past two years, Downers have thrived on the workload, opening for staple bands in the heavy rock scene, such as: Chiodos, Fear Before the March of Flames, Glassjaw, The Sleeping, Hopesfall, See You Next Tuesday, and For the Fallen Dreams. The Eastern Michigan local scene has been particularly good to Downers, with several premier slots at high drawing shows establishing a name for Downers as one of Eastern Michigan’s premier hard rock acts.
4) The reclusive Atlanta multimedia/industrial act, whose music is based around the sounds of analog synthesizers, tape collage and oscillators.
Run Away
Downers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
with his head full of lies
we all knew
he knew too much
he was a low class criminal
with a fantasy world
living there all by himself
one day they brought him in
for some questioning
and he betrayed his fellow men
a week went by
and the police arrived
and then they busted the whole gang
now some want revenge
and some just said
brother want you leave this land
tell him he gotta choose
between death or just live in pain
over the hill
and far away
and run away
