Kids in The Rain
Dr. Coil Lyrics

Momma I won't cry no more
Won't let a bitch stop my grind no more
I aint got the time no more
Won't let a nigga block my shine no more
Momma I won't cry no more
I just pray he reveal what I don't know
Won't let excuses be the reason I fail
No weapon formed against me shall prevail
RIP to all my niggas
Sad to say I'd rather see you in jail than in a coffin between heaven or hell
Stay dangerous don't stay safe cause niggas ain't playing fair
The streets watered down soupy as hell
I lost my mind 100 times like Kanye they think I'm crazy as hell
I hope you know this world crazy as well
Some shit just don't be for you and you still out here opening mail
You knew the good news before I could tell
We use to go outside as kids and play
Old school shit like Kid and Play
I just knew that I'd be big one day
I'm talking Big, Pac, Nas, Wayne and Jay
Em, Ye, Snoop and Dre nigga I'm mutually great
Real niggas keep it a stack Andre
You want a verse now I need three k
If I don't shit ima get me some cake
Reinvest into my craft keep my head down and stay out the way
Momma I won't cry no more
Won't let a bitch stop my grind no more
I aint got the time no more
Won't let a nigga block my shine no more
Momma I won't cry no more
I just pray he reveal what I don't know
Won't let excuses be the reason I fail
No weapon formed against me shall prevail
I don't know how I feel
But I would feel a lil better if you niggas kept it real
Can't understand why a nigga like me ain't gotta deal
I put my all in this shit, blood sweat and tears
You can't imagine all the shit I been through over the years
Riding round dangling late night got my nigga killed
I lost my freedom three times so I be in the crib
My brother almost died high speed I'm glad my nigga here
Momma got her grand-babies treat em like her kids
Granny, Auntie, and Cuz gone I coulda dropped a tear
Somebody hurt one my sisters only thing I fear
Smoke em like a orange head or get that nigga peeled
I don't know nothing but rap nigga I'm really skilled
Nigga we can go line for line or we can pop a seal
It don't matter what you do nigga get it how you live
Aint no back and forth, that tit for tat just show which nigga lil

Danny is absolutely right. Coil were never one thing. They shifted, experimented, constantly evolved until the end. Nevertheless, all Coil fans know there was a consistent "something" that kept people like me excited about every new release for over 30 years. This is of no value to anybody but one of my biggest regrets in life was not having the guts to go up to Jhon Balance at the Royal Festival Hall gig in 2000, (when the guys were hanging about the bar area after the gig) and giving him a hug & kiss for seriously influencing my life. Even then, he looked so vulnerable. He needed a hug. I managed to grab Sleazy a few years later at a TG gig & expressed my gratitude. I learned my lesson. What a gentleman he was. Fuck what anybody else thinks is cool or not, pay your respects to your true inspirations in life for the vultures are oh so close. Anyhow, aye, my thanks to Stuart Maconie & Dany Hyde for putting this together. Cheers!

@@AZ-zf1eu Hi! Thank you for your wonderful response. It's such a pleasure to read such a well written, intelligent and measured comment from someone on YouTube. Such a welcome change from the usual crass impercipience (oh, just discovered that expression - been dying to use it! Hehe!). You are absolutely right: Coil was not simply a music band, they were more of an aggregate of aligned philosophies, aesthetics, opinions, perversions, dark obsessions and, ultimately, love. We felt it. We responded. You make me feel very old when you say you were too young to ever see Coil perform. As William Burroughs wrote, "nothing here now but the recordings". Or, as Old Crow might have said, cheer up! Have a line of this & a bottle of that & go fuck someone! They will be back (he was big on reincarnation). 😁

PS Well spotted the AOS pic! It was tattooed on my arm by the late, great Mr. Sebastian 34 years ago, a brilliant single needle tattooist & the unknown pioneer of legal piercings in Britain. It's very special to me. Both artists introduced in the days when Jhonn & Sleazy were in PTV so, again, another well informed observation! My very best wishes to you.

@@AZ-zf1eu Curious, It's been on my mind all day to write you a quick reply, to ask you to tell me more about yourself. You are clearly a very intelligent young man/woman (dunno, don't care) who writes with passion & is very well informed. I'd like to know more about you before we disappear into the abyss of brief encounters that is the YouTube comment section. I can hopefully shed some interesing light on characters you have become aware of too. Having said that, I am knackered right now. I will be in touch very soon for another gripping installment of Notes From Underground and hopefully some of your own life story too. Everybody's life is fascinating. Do you have other friends that share your passions? Do you make music, play an instrument? Do you write fiction or poetry, do you paint? Do you like to simply sit & dream for hours as Lao Tzu (Dao De Ching) would highly recommend? "Do what you like, to whom the pleasing." AOS. It's all good to me. Thank you again for another delightful response. Bye for now!

@@AZ-zf1eu Whilst it would be extremely arrogant of me to presume that you would be eagerly anticipating a reply from a stranger, it still feels impolite (after I said I'd get back to) not to make some effort. I have more to write but not just now - it's coming up to 3.45am in my time zone. Must sleep. Sorry I haven't got back to you - such a polite chap in a digital bear pit - it's just not very nice of me. I have had one of the craziest, frankly unpleasant weeks in a very long time so it's been difficult to just sit down & write. I haven't forgotten you & hope this finds you very well. John

@amphitheatre

thanks for sharing - hey at least you got to see them! and at one of (i think) their best live shows, at that.

@johnsrome8459

@@amphitheatre Cheers! Yes, it was a truly unforgettable night (due to some odd “problem”with the ticketing arrangement), I ended up sitting in a big sofa chair in the middle isle of the hall, my best mate beside me, all the legroom you could ask for, stoned, with a big glass of Gin & Tonic that I could easily sit on the arm rest. Then Coil came on & blew my mind. Just couldn’t ask for anything better! Ah, you’ll find a performance by somebody which you’ll never forget, if not already. Best wishes.

@terrypussypower

Both "Backwards" and "The New Backwards" are fantastic!
