Dr. Dante Teaterkoncert Lyrics

Cali Cali cutta cutta eyoh eyoh

One day when I got hungry I sold the wooden house
I had to visit uncle Gundij who lives in Calcutta town
Uncle Gundij he is rich he's a taxidriverman
And I know that he will help me as much as he can

A taxidriverman is what I want to be
But there are no customers who want to ride with me
I don't know why it could be that I'm almost blind
But every street in Calcutta I can find

Calcutta - I am a taxidriver in
Calcutta - I drive my little taxi in
Calcutta - taxi taxi taxi in
Calcutta - I am a taxidriverman

I love to drive the taxi I like it very much
Even though I have no license I always find the clutch
I can drive without my hands I can drive without my feet
And I have no problem keeping taxi on the street

Calcutta - I am a taxidriver in
Calcutta - I drive my little taxi in
Calcutta - taxi taxi taxi in
Calcutta - taxi taxi taxi in
Calcutta - I am a taxidriver in
Calcutta - I drive my little taxi in
Calcutta - taxi taxi taxi in
Calcutta - I am a taxidriverman
I am a taxidriverman

Overall Meaning

The song "Taxi" by Dr. Dante Teaterkoncert tells the story of a young man who sells his wooden house to visit his wealthy uncle in Calcutta. The uncle is a taxi driver and offers to help his nephew become one too. Despite being almost blind, the nephew is able to navigate the streets of Calcutta and drive a taxi. He loves his job and can even drive without his hands or feet. The repeated refrain of "Calcutta - I am a taxi driver" emphasizes the singer's pride and fulfillment in his chosen profession.

Although the lyrics are somewhat simple, the song is a commentary on the struggles and triumphs of blue-collar workers. The singer's blindness adds an extra layer of difficulty to his job, which he overcomes with determination and skill. The song is also an ode to the city of Calcutta, with its crowded streets and vibrant culture.

One of the best shows in TV history! Clean, heartfelt, everyone fully dressed, and it was hilarious! Didn't get any better.

Clean? You must have watched only the syndicated reruns! They chopped out the more risque bits and drug references to make room for more commercials. Same thing with every other edgy show.
