Glow
Dr. Kid Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

We wanna do my thing
이제는 do nothing이라는

I'ma get it
나 오랫동안 gotta go
한 곳만 바라보며 달려왔는데 (yeah this is my last time)
(I'ma show it)

Overall Meaning

In these lyrics, Dr. Kid's song "Glow" explores the idea of perseverance and determination on the path towards success. The first paragraph highlights the struggle of continuing to push forward, even when the end is not yet in sight. It emphasizes the importance of staying focused and not looking back, as it can lead to getting lost in a maze. The lyrics encourage running forward, illuminating the darkness along the way.

The second paragraph describes the feeling of being awakened by an alarm in the morning, signaling that it is time to wake up and face the day. The lyrics humorously indicate that it feels like just a moment ago they were sleeping, but now they realize they have been wasting time. Looking in the mirror, they see themselves as less successful than they want to be.

The third paragraph talks about the busy nature of everyone's lives, with no time to rest. It reflects on the image of stylish people with wet hair from the rain, but despite their appearances, they are all afraid of being late. This shows how people may seem put together, but internally, they are filled with fear and hesitation.

The fourth paragraph delves into the idea of the challenges faced along the journey towards their dreams. It mentions the temptation to give up when exhaustion sets in, but they must endure and overcome. The lyrics use the metaphor of pouring drowsiness as a cheating move in this battle, so they close their eyes, making it difficult for sleep to take over.

The fifth paragraph denotes the ongoing practice and dedication required to achieve their goals. It suggests that when the night comes, they practice even harder. It also mentions the feeling of unease when the youngest member of the group is not present, but they must continue. The lyrics convey the message of not letting temporary setbacks discourage them from pursuing their passion.

The sixth paragraph reflects on the uncertainty that comes with their debut and the pressure they face. Despite the difficulties and uncertain future, they refuse to let their dreams fade away and keep the light of the practice room burning. It expresses the determination to find their way, even in the darkest moments.

The seventh paragraph repeats the idea of not veering off the chosen path, but this time, it adds a strong resolve to pursue it until the end. The lyrics mention looking at the night sky and the bright stars, which symbolize hope and inspiration. It suggests that their true potential shines brighter in the midst of darkness.

The last paragraph reiterates the initial theme of perseverance and determination. It emphasizes that although it is okay to take a break, they are not yet ready to do so. The lyrics state that even when the end is not apparent, they must keep looking towards it. The path they are on may lack a map and cause frustration, but they must continue running forward to brighten up the darkness.

Overall, Dr. Kid's song "Glow" is an uplifting anthem about staying committed to one's dreams and maintaining a positive mindset despite the challenges faced along the way. It encourages listeners to persevere, embrace the journey, and let their inner light shine even brighter in difficult times.

I grew up without a TV so basically the only time I watched anything was when we watched a movie in school. Once in a while like maybe once a year we watched a movie at home on the computer. This was such a blessing! We played with the neighbor kids every day. I have 9 siblings and they had a lot of kids too so there were a ton of fun games we got to play together. We stayed out playing, in all weather, till it was dark and time for bed! It was a lot of fun. I feel really bad for kids that don’t get to do this! Now that we have 4 children, we do not have a TV and early use screens. Our children love books, playing outside, playing music, and doing crafts. It’s a huge blessing to not have this as an issue.

His book completely changed our world. I’m so happy you got him on your podcast!

Very interesting, thank you. For those of you who like to read, I would also highly recommend the book “CHRISTIAN RESPONSE TO MENTAL ILLNESS: MUTUAL CARE IN THE BODY OF CHRIST” by Martin Bobgan as an additional resource and a Christian perspective on the topic of mental illness, ADHD, depression, etc. Highly relevant today.

Every parent needs to listen to this.

@hannahbeck3219

I would love to have an episode where you two talk all about this from your own perspective! And also some alternatives you use to keep kids engaged at home, especially with freezing cold temps outside. Loved this episode!

So sobering! Exercise, social interaction, and having a life that they don’t need to escape from sounds like the goal here.

Very eye opening! We have teens down to 9 mos old and our kids are beginning to have questions about phones and internet and are wanting to use it to "look things up" we dont allow them to have their own internet access but im interested in your plan for the future of teaching kids to use these amazing tools in a healthy way. Its scary though how the smart phones etc are inherently addicitive it seems esp for men. :( as a Mom of 9 i dont have a ton of time to use the phone but still it concerns me where the world is going etc. This is so relevant and grateful you two are helping male ppl more aware. Im also a retired RN so ive seen mental illness just sky rocket esp in younger people. Praying for God to enlighten the masses on this snd help people to wake up and see the light of Christ and the Truth!
