At age 14, a serious accident left him unable to walk. Fighting to rehabilitate two broken hips, he moved from Paris to the jungle of St. Laurent du Maroni, Guiana, with his father. There he found his love for music. He decided then to become the rapper/singer/toaster that would blur the boundaries of genre and language, defy continental barriers, and speak in music.
At age 18, he formed the musical group DaManiak Reggae. The group consisted of 11 members, with Dr. Mikey being the only MC/Rapper. They toured most of that year through the West Indies and South America.
In 1997, having to leave Guiana and the group, Dr. Mikey returned to France. There he put together another group called Instinct 2 Scarla, whereas he was not only lead rapper, but contributing singer. Finally realizing that being in a group was not his thing, Dr. Mikey ventured into a solo career, writing, singing and rapping his own music.
This solo career eventually brought him to the United States through his then manager, Sonia Kinnany. Upon his arrival, Dr. Mikey could not speak nor understand a word of English. He set to work. Joining forces with a young promoter he met through his manager in Los Angeles, he was given the opportunity to perform at the Watts Summer Festival, the Jamaican Independence Day Picnic, the Key Club, and the Rio Brazilian Soul Samba Salsa Show. He even took First Place at the Hollywood Showcase Awards.
After performing around Los Angeles, he hooked up with Louisiana rapper Bale in 2001, forming the group True to Life Players. They performed throughout California, and in the following year, opened for Juvenile, Trick Daddy, E-40, and Blu Cantrell at San Francisco’s Cow Palace.
Dr. Mikey began traveling between Europe, the West Indies, and French Guiana in 2003, meeting with former group members of Da Maniac to coordinate a video. This year he has already performed with Capleton in Florida, UCLA Festival: Sean Paul, Mr Vegas, Buju Banton, Spragga Benz, Club Crucial and Club Miami in Atlanta
Now back in the States, Dr. Mikey plans to make a name for himself. He’s here to stay… Fresh out of the studio. Moving minds and shaking status quo. Get Ready for Reggae, song and rap!!!

je le chante
Je le chante c'est pour toi
Quand j'y pense
Je ne veux que de toi
J'ai beau me mentir je le sais
Mais personne ne sera mieux que toi.
Tout ce que je chante
Je le chante pour toi
Tout ce que je fais
Jle fais en pensant à toi
Je ne veux plus me mentir
Je ne pense qu'à toi
J'essaie de t'oublier
Mais je n'y arrive pas.
Pourtant j'en ai rencontré
De plus bonnes des plus jolie
Aucune n'avait ton sourire

However, despite the allure of these encounters, the singer realizes that they cannot fully engage with these individuals because they are consumed by thoughts of the person they are fixated on.
