Can I?
Drake Ft. Beyonce Lyrics

Can I, baby? Can I, baby?
Can I, baby? Can I, baby?

Can I, bring you to the six where I really stay, baby?
Show you why I am the way I am
Can I, tell you what I think my biggest flaw is, baby?
I try to be consistent, but I can't
Can I, have an honest moment wit' you right now, baby?
Tell me who the fuck you want to be
Can I, get an honest answer from you right now, baby
'Cause all we ever talk about is me
Can I, before I turn the lights out
'Fore I turn the lights out, tell me who the fuck you want to be
Can I, call instead of text you on the hotline?
Sometimes a nigga wanna hear your voice
Can I, see you right now, I know the sun is up, baby?
Sorry, you don't really have a choice
Can I, ever make you feel like I'm down for you, baby?
You do so much more for them than me
Can I, finally take the time and open up to you, baby?
'Cause that's the side you never get to see
Can I, before I turn the lights out?
'Fore I turn the lights out, tell me who the fuck you want to be

Can I, can I, baby?
Can I, baby? Can I, baby?
Can I, baby? Can I, baby?
Can I, baby?
Can I, before I turn the lights out
Can I, baby? Can I, baby?
Can I, baby? Can I, baby?
Can I, baby? Can I, baby?
Can I, baby?
Can I, before I turn the lights out
Can I, baby? Can I, baby?
Can I, baby? Can I, baby?

Can I, baby? Can I, baby?

Overall Meaning

In Drake Ft. Beyonce's song Can I? Drake opens up to his lover and asks for an honest moment to discuss their relationship. He discusses his flaws and asks his lover about their own aspirations and who they want to be. Through the lyrics, Drake shares his desire to spend more quality time with his lover, whether it be a phone call or seeing them in person. He acknowledges that his lover does more for him than he does for her and vows to make an effort to be more devoted to her. The song is an expression of Drake's vulnerability and his willingness to share his thoughts and emotions with his lover.

The song Can I? was leaked online in 2015, and it was set to be included on Drake's album Views, which was later released in 2016.

The leaked version of the song did not include Beyonce's vocals, and it was widely speculated that a remix with Beyonce would eventually be released, which ultimately happened in 2021.

The song was produced by OVO's frequent collaborator, Noah "40" Shebib.

"Can I?" marks the third collaboration between Drake and Beyonce, they previously worked together on "Mine" on Beyonce's self-titled album in 2013 and "Girls Love Beyonce" in 2014.

The original version of the song was reportedly recorded back in 2013, but Drake did not release it until two years later when a snippet of the song was leaked online.

Drake previously sampled "Sampling Leo's Tune" by Edith Hill on his track "Say Something" in 2009, which is the same sample that was used on "Can I?".

The song's producer, Noah "40" Shebib, tweeted that the version of the song featuring Beyonce was not the final mix, and that there were plans to make changes to the song before it was released.

Despite its positive reception, the song did not chart as it was not officially released as a single.

The chords for "Can I?" are Bbm, Gb, F, Eb.
