They formed around 2008 and have released two EPs, Hope and Sails Set, Armada - EP, and one album, Heartbound. Hope was picked up by Australian's biggest hardcore label, Boomtown Records, and the band was invited to play on the Australian leg of the 2010 Take Action Tour alongside Attack Attack! and Pierce the Veil. Since then they have toured Australia with acts such as Avenged Sevenfold and internationally with acts such as Attack Attack!, The Ghost Inside and Sleeping With Sirens. Their debut album Heartbound was released in August 2011 through UNFD (AU, NZ), Rise Records (US, UK, EU), and Triple Vision Entertainment (JP). The first single released from the album was Downfall, through their official website and other digital distributors.
With the news that Dream On Dreamer would be playing Soundwave 2012, the band went into recording at the guitarist Callan's studio. The band then released a Vanessa Carlton cover of A Thousand Miles especially for the tour.
The band released the single, Midnight Thoughts, for the second US tour in April 2012. A DVD is currently in the works with photographer/filmaker Sam Link set for an August release. Another project called "Zodiac" is rumoured to be in the works.

The song "Blackened Sun" by Dream On Dreamer presents deep and thoughtful lyrics that can be interpreted in multiple ways, depending on the listener's perception.
