Freeway
Droop Lion Lyrics

This time y'all.
When the barrel cracks and the smoke smell
Mama sing a prayer for me
She put her arms around me and say this place gonna set us free
Early morning Black Maria come and take my black brothers on a jail ride
But if they taking us all to hell center
--
I'm taking the freeway
The freeway way, right away
The freeway, o my brothers and sisters
They will be seeing me trodding up the King's highway (repeat)
See the smoke rise above Earth surface
While the mountains come to the sea
Building blocks is burning, is burning,
On the news someone crying help
Thunder roll and lightning strikes
See the sun comes with all its might
Plantation field, it is burning
Setting the way for us to be free
--
I'm taking the freeway
The freeway way, right away
The freeway, o my brothers and sisters
They will be seeing me trodding up the King's highway (repeat)
Wheel is tough but me got to turn it
O father God, o help me on this journey
Walk through the fire and the flames don't burn me
Walk through the tornado and the wind don't turn me
Live 'mongst eden, them can't hurt me
Run with the swiftest, none of them don't splurt me
I never do no wrong fi Babylon come girth me
I know my God ... salvation
--
I'm taking the freeway
The freeway way, right away
The freeway, o my brothers and sisters
They will be seeing me trodding up the King's highway (repeat)
The lyrics of Droop Lion's song Freeway describe the struggles of life and the hardships faced by many in society. The opening lines, "In this time you know, it's not easy getting around," set the tone for the whole song, which speaks to the difficulties faced by marginalized people. The song also touches on themes of oppression, resistance, and the hope for freedom.
The second verse highlights the injustices of the legal system, especially towards black men who are taken on a "jail ride" early in the morning. The line, "if they taking us all to hell center, don't you know some of us won't reach alive," is a powerful statement about the dangers faced by those caught up in the criminal justice system.
The chorus, "I'm taking the freeway, the freeway way, right away," is a call to action for the listener. Droop Lion urges them to take action and make changes in their lives to overcome the challenges they face. The reference to the "King's highway" also suggests a religious element, as it is associated with the path towards salvation.
Overall, Freeway is a powerful piece of music that highlights the challenges and struggles of marginalized people. It is a call to action for listeners to take control of their lives and work towards a better tomorrow.

The world doesn't even know your power. You are of the tribe of Judah. I love it when my black brothers carry the power of the true Israelites.

Just discovered Droop Lion for the first time today thanks to Youtube. This is one of the most amazing vocalists these ears have ever heard in ANY music genre. So much soul, that grittiness, and the note-perfect delivery, just explodes my doors off at the hinges. Holy Moly! Droop Lion is a mega-star on the rise without question.
