He is well known for his outstanding use of the Dutch language , a talent which grew out of his work as a copy writer. He began to use this talent for writing song lyrics and poems, which are mostly characterized by comical sketches with extreme textual absurdities. His singing voice also adds to the comical quality of his musical performances: it sounds adequate, but not very well musically conditioned.
Drs. P made his début age 44 in 1964 on TV in the AVRO show "Voor de Vuist Weg" with famous Dutch presenter Willem Duys, with his song Het trapportaal. It was Willem Duys, who also came up with the idea for his well known artistic alias.
His absurd use of language can best be seen in his best known song "Dodenrit" (death-trip) which tells the story of a fatal trip by a family to Omsk, during wich the family members, being pursued by hungry wolves, are being sacrified one by one to buy time. But alas, Omsk is a beautiful city but just a little too remote.
He is also credited for a profound knowledge of traditional and the inventing of new poem formats in the Dutch language, of which the ollekebolleke is the most famous.
Heinz Polzer uses the following artistic aliases : Drs. P, een kindervriend, Drs. S, Geo Staad, Coos Neetebeem, Kirsten Wiedeman, Wilson Hode, Lars Brahe, M. de Gans, Henry van Kol, Cyriel P. Licentiaat, Henry Smith, Ludwig Otto Stadtherr en Alois Mückenspucke.
Drs. P remained active until 1996 after that appearances became sporadic. The most recent being when receiving a prize in September 2011 for the most innovative (Dutch) language performed (cabaratier).
Bach
Drs. P Lyrics

Was van een heerlijk Bach-motet
Maar zij was amper negentien
En bleek er weinig in te zien
Die orgelpijpmuziek van Bach
Als ik het zo eens zeggen mag
Is meer iets voor de oude dag
Geef mij dan maar Burt Bacharach
Burt Bacharach is bagger, ach
Waarom heeft men toch zo'n ontzag
Voor volksbedrog en winstbejag?
Helaas Johannes Sebastian
Kon het bij haar niet winnen van
Die walgelijke popmuziek
En daarom zei ik energiek:
Maak alsjeblieft niet meer gewag
Van dat gerock en dat gerag
Ik zeg je, wij gaan zaterdag
Ons voor een redelijk bedrag
Eens ernstig buigen over Bach
En als je merkt wat Bach vermag
Dan ga je vast wel overstag
En strijkt jouw Bacharach de vlag
Gehoorzaam is ze meegegaan
Ze hoorde zelfs een lezing aan
En ging ook naar het huisconcert
Dat na de lunch gegeven werd
Maar ik betaalde het gelag
Toen zij die violist daar zag
Want voor zijn welbesnaard gedrag
En virtuoze oogopslag
Ging zij volledig overstag
Ik wentel mij in zelfbeklag
En heb nu ook iets tegen Bach
Die naar mijn smaak te veel vermag
The lyrics of Drs. P's song "Bach" describe a situation in which the singer is trying to introduce a young woman to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. However, despite his enthusiasm for the composer and his motets, the woman is not interested and prefers pop music, particularly the songs of Burt Bacharach. The singer is disappointed by this and attempts to persuade the woman to try Bach again by taking her to a music event, but she is instead charmed by a violinist and loses interest in Bach altogether. The singer is left feeling bitter and disillusioned with Bach, whom he now believes is overrated.
The song explores the tension between different genres of music and the challenge of introducing someone to a musical style that is not immediately appealing to them. It also touches on the idea of music as a status symbol and the potential for it to be used as a form of cultural capital.
Overall, the lyrics of "Bach" are a witty and ironic commentary on the struggles of musical appreciation, and the difficulties inherent in trying to share one's love of a particular style or composer with others.

Op welk stuk van Bach is dit gebaseerd?
@schieteensklop
Dit is niet gebaseerd op Bach. In de video zie je pianist Glenn Gould, en speelt daar het 7e pianoconcert van Johann Sebastian Bach.
