They have so far released 5 albums, 3 of which were recorded at their own expense and 2 were officially published by Mami Records. The band's first official record, titled simply DUBSKA, was released in 2005. Both the critic's and the public's reaction to this album was quite positive. The band's most significant virtues are: characteristic style, two equal vocalists, splendid rhythm section as well as impressive wind section.
Thanks to them the band is welcomed during concerts with open arms and is classified among the best reggae formations in Poland. "Free Colours", a reggae quarterly, placed in its second number the results of a plebiscite which sums up the year of 2005 concerning reggae stage in Poland and abroad. As a phonographic debut, Dubska band is listed among the finalists of three categories:
- "The best Polish album",
- "The greatest Polish hope in music",
- "The best Polish album debut".
At that time Dubska became very active as far as the concerts are concerned. The band took part in the majority of reggae festivals in Poland such as: "Africa", in Toruń, "Ostróda Reggae Festival", "Winter Reggae" in Gliwice, "Gorzyce Reggae Festival", "Nie Zabijaj (Don't Kill)" in Oleśno, "Reggae na Piaskach" in Ostrów Wielkopolski, "Reggae nad Warta" in Gorzów Wielkopolski and, above all, Woodstock in Kostrzyn nad Odra. What is more, Ile mil(How many miles), the band Izrael's song, is an extra surprise on the album. The album Avokado, met with even better reception from the critics and people.
I życie im szybciej płynie i płonie
By spalić pieniądze napadli na bank
W 36 roku w Barcelonie
By spalić pieniądze napadli na bank
W 36 roku w Barcelonie
Spokój albo ogień wolny jest człowiek
Wybiera szary środek albo złoty koniec
The first verse of the song "Barcelona" by Dubska talks about the fleeting nature of life and how some people live to the age of 90 but only truly experience a few minutes of it, with the rest being routine. The lyrics also mention how when the stars shine, they go to sleep, and the day starts with warm tea. This can be interpreted as a reflection on the passage of time, the contrast between the mundane aspects of life and the moments of true significance, and the cyclical nature of days beginning and ending.
The next verse touches on the idea of choice and freedom for individuals, stating that peace or fire (passion) is what a person is free to choose. The lyrics suggest that one can opt for a balanced, middle ground life or aim for a more extraordinary, golden ending. This can be seen as a contemplation on personal agency, decision-making, and the dichotomy between leading a safe, ordinary life and pursuing one's dreams and passions.
The following verse delves into the concept of feeling a constant, abnormal heat within oneself, symbolizing an intense desire for life experiences and a sense of urgency. The mention of life flowing and burning faster for some individuals implies a sense of restlessness and impatience to live fully. The scenario of robbing a bank in Barcelona at the age of 36 to burn money can be viewed as a drastic action taken to break free from societal constraints and embrace a moment of rebellion and excitement.
The repetition of the refrain about the choice between peace or fire underscores the theme of individual agency and the decisions we make in life. It reinforces the idea that each person has the freedom to opt for a calm, balanced existence or to chase after a more passionate and possibly risky path. Overall, the lyrics of "Barcelona" by Dubska evoke reflections on the brevity of life, the pursuit of excitement and fulfillment, and the importance of making choices that align with one's true desires and aspirations.
