What a very cool romantic guy that Duke Ellington must've been. It certainly is reflected in his music. A musical genius whose music will never die! Not if I have anything to say about it! :-)

Oh my God I want our jazz band to try playing this again. The bass part for the whole band version is just beautiful, so paced out and speaking.

While I respect Duke Ellington for his influence on Jazz and his great music, he's not one of my favorites, but he DID create my favorite piano ballad of all time. This piece makes me feel as if I was kissing the love of my life while dancing next to a fire on a snowy afternoon (quite cliché, true, but quite accurate to my feelings). It's a timeless classic.

I had no idea the 78's put out such fantastic sound. I felt almost as If I were in the room with Ellington, playing just a few feet away. This will forever be my definitive prelude.

2022 and still listening to this masterpiece written nearly 100 years ago.

Walking the streets while listening to this is a priceless experience.

A girl named Madeline played this at our school band concert yesterday and I’m still mesmerized

I think this is the version recorded by Duke in April 1953 and released on the Capitol label as "The Duke Plays Ellington". A 1989 CD release with bonus tracks was called "Piano Reflections". Wendell Marshall played bass and Butch Ballard was the drummer
