Hunting
Dune Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Intertwine,
cos love is hunting down
Beaten by bullets, so?
Beaten by bullets,
for love I´m hunting down

And love has never, never, never roamed
This love has never, never, never roamed

Better soul chase
Chased by you, blow me out
Fadin, be sure to catch the
bait
I´m on hollow delay

Take me home
Both times ´round
Bargains don´t count
Higher grounds call

And love has never, never, never roamed
This love has never, never, never roamed

And love has never, never, never roamed
This love has never, never, never roamed

Better soul-chase
chased by you - blow me out

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Dune's song "Hunting" delve into the theme of pursuing love despite facing challenges and being wounded in the process. The opening lines "Intertwine, cos love is hunting down, Beaten by bullets, so?" suggest a sense of intertwining and the pursuit of love even when facing hardships. The repetition of the phrase "Beaten by bullets" emphasizes the struggles and obstacles encountered in the quest for love.

As the lyrics progress, the line "And love has never, never, never roamed" highlights the idea that true love has not wandered or strayed. This could indicate a longing for a deep and unwavering connection that has not been found yet or a belief in the rarity of genuine love.

The following verses introduce a sense of surrender and vulnerability in the pursuit of love. The lines "Better soul chase, Chased by you, blow me out" suggest a willingness to be pursued and overcome by the intensity of emotions. The mention of being on "hollow delay" conveys a feeling of being empty or incomplete without the presence of love.

In the closing verses, the repetition of the statement "And love has never, never, never roamed" emphasizes the constant yearning for a love that has not been fully realized. The references to "higher grounds" and the refusal to settle for bargains hint at a desire for a profound and elevated love that transcends superficial connections. Ultimately, the lyrics depict a relentless pursuit of love, acknowledging the challenges and wounds along the way but remaining steadfast in the quest for a love that is pure and authentic.

I think there was also some mention in the Dune sequel novels about a hunter seeker counter-measure known as the "reversant." "The reversant was invented around 10,205 to detect and counter the use of hunter-seekers. It detected the hunter-seeker's compressed suspensor field, amplified it and fed it back to the control console. This resulted in an explosion large enough to kill the operator, leaving few traces. Every house that was even remotely likely to be the target of a hunter-seeker rapidly equipped themselves with reversants, making the hunter-seeker obsolete."

@TurKlack

... I bet they work as terrible as the Shields that slow down projectiles until they can safely pass through it.

@moviesnips

@Das Institut That's also one possibility to consider (assuming the operator was wearing a shield to counter the explosion). Please visit and subscribe to my channel for a lot of Dune lore videos (I discuss the hunter seeker in one of my videos).

@thegrimmretails3777

@Das Institut presumably under ideal circumstances you would be free to stop the projectile from actually penetrating the shield.

I like how leto in this film just openly say how he cares about his son whereas in the book he cares but doesn't outright say it

@LordNinja109

Sometimes for pacing, it's just going to be easier to just say it and get internal monologuing out of the way.

Movie was alright here, but the book was awesome here. When Thufir resigned, he was deeply ashamed of himself. But Leto handled the situation by turning Thufir's shame into motivation. Not only he pardoned his mistake, but he reassured him that he's a good chief. Leto was furious that Paul could've died. But he understood that nobody could've seen it coming. On top of that, he couldn't afford to loose his best mentat. So as a leader he did what he had to do. He managed to overcome his anger, and do the right thing... This was one of the few parts that showed that Leto was an excellent leader.

Describe a movie plot badly:
“Go catch some Spice!”

@howarddewing6617

He said spies

@h870

Talk about claustrophobia. Wonder what that Harkonnen ate in there haha
