1) The German rave band Dune. The band was founded in 1995 by Oliver Froning and Jens Oettrich, who are both big fans of the novels by Frank Herbert - hence the name Dune. Their first single "Hardcore Vibes" featured the voice of Oliver's then 11-year-old cousin Janine. Their second single "Are you ready to fly?" sounded quite different and already featured the typical Dune-style with high-pitched vocals and a catchy melody.
At the end of 1996 the band released the album "Forever" with a lot of tracks in a classical style - all tracks where performed together with the London Session Orchestra (see Dune & the London Session Orchestra). Lead singer Verena von Strenge left Dune after the release of "Forever" to start a solo career. Dune came back in April 1998 with a new lead singer (Vanessa Hörster). The single "Keep the Secret" was only a medium success and its successor "Electric Heaven" flopped completely.
In late 1999 Verena von Strenge came back as lead singer after her solo career was not as successful as she wanted it to be. The single "Dark Side of the Moon" was released and the album "Reunion" was produced and ready for release in May 2000. However the album was never released due to a court order that stopped the single "Heaven".
The latest single released was "Rainbow To The Stars 2003", a rework of their 1996 classic. It was released on 23 June 2003.

Lose My Way
Dune Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
cnd so I face that final curtain
My friend I'll make it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and every highway
cnd more, much more
I did it, I did it my way
But then again too few to mention
I did what I had to do
I saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
cnd more, much, much more
I did it, I did it my way
Yes, there were times I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself then he has naught
Not to say the things that he truly feels
cnd not the words of someone who kneels
Let the record shows I took all the blows and did it my way
The lyrics to Dúné's song "Lose My Way" reflect a sense of self-confidence and determination. The singer contemplates the end approaching and acknowledges that they will face it with a clear mind and without fear. They state that they have lived a full life, having explored various paths and experiences. The repeated phrase "I did it my way" emphasizes the individuality and independence with which the singer has approached life.
The lyrics also touch upon the theme of regrets, suggesting that the singer has made some mistakes but considers them to be few and not worth mentioning. They assert that they have done what they needed to do and have seen things through till the end, without any exceptions. The idea of planning and carefully navigating their chosen path is highlighted, suggesting that the singer has always been intentional in their choices and actions.
The lyrics express the singer's acknowledgment of times they may have taken on more than they could handle, but they faced their challenges with determination and perseverance. Regardless of doubts or uncertainty, they faced everything head-on and remained steadfast. They proudly state that they stood tall and faced every obstacle confidently.
The lyrics further explore the concept of individuality and authenticity. The singer questions the value of a person if they don't stay true to themselves. They suggest that staying authentic and expressing genuine thoughts and feelings is essential, as opposed to succumbing to the influence of others. The phrase "not the words of someone who kneels" implies a refusal to conform or compromise one's beliefs and values.
The final line of the lyrics references taking "all the blows," symbolizing the challenges and hardships the singer has faced throughout their life. Nonetheless, they proudly declare that they have overcome them all and have done things their own way. This concluding line reinforces the message of the song, emphasizing the importance of individuality, resilience, and self-expression.
