Jesus Christ
Dustin Kensrue Lyrics

Jesus Christ, that's a pretty face.
The kind you find on someone that could save.
If they don't put me away...
well, it'll be a miracle.
Do you believe you're missin out?
That everything good is happenin somewhere else,
but with nobody in your bed
the night's hard to get through?
And I, will die, all alone.
And when I, arrive, I won't know anyone.
Jesus Christ, I'm alone again.
So what did you do those three days you were dead?
'cause this problem's gonna last, more than the weekend.
Well, Jesus Christ, I'm not scared to die.
I'm a little bit scared of what comes after.
Do I get the gold chariot?
Do I float through the ceiling?
Do I, divide, and pull apart?
'Cause my bright, is far too slight, to hold back all my dark.
And this ship, went down, in sight of land.
And at the gates, so Thomas, asked to see my hands.
I know you're coming in the night like a thief,
but I've had some time alone, to hone my lying technique.
I know you think that I'm someone you can trust,
but I'm scared I'll get scared;
and I swear I'll try to nail you back up.
So do you think that we could work out a sign...
So I'll know it's you and that it's over so I won't even try.
I know you're coming for the people like me.
We all got wood and nails
to choose that hate factories
woah, oh
We all got wood and nails
to choose that hate factories

We all got wood and nails
We sleep inside of this machine.

Overall Meaning

The song Jesus Christ by Dustin Kensrue is a reflection on the fear and uncertainty around death and the afterlife. Kensrue sings about being alone and wondering about what comes after death, expressing a desire for guidance and reassurance from Jesus Christ. The opening lines describe how Jesus Christ has a pretty face, the kind that could save someone, and the potential for a miracle to prevent Kensrue from being put away. The focus then shifts to the fear of missing out on the good things in life and struggling to get through lonely nights.

The chorus repeats the statement "Jesus Christ, I'm alone again" and leads into a series of questions about what comes after death. Kensrue wonders if he will get a gold chariot or float through the ceiling, expressing a fear that his "bright" is too slight to hold back his "dark." He then references the biblical story of doubting Thomas, who asked to see Jesus' hands to know that he was truly risen. Kensrue acknowledges that he has spent time honing his "lying technique" in order to avoid facing certain truths. He expresses a desire to work out a sign with Jesus so that he will know when it's time to let go and surrender to death. The song concludes with the repeated phrase, "We all got wood and nails to choose that hate factories," suggesting that there is a collective responsibility to choose love and compassion over hate and division.

i liked this song even thou it's dark when it came out cuz it skim's the surface of someone thinking or pondering weather they want to trust Jesus especially when we all have issues and darkness in ourselves and the world-to which Jesus is the only answer
