Overall Meaning

The song "Energy" by E.M.P is a gritty and raw expression of street life and survival in the face of drug addiction, violence, and the pursuit of wealth. The song's lyrics depict the singer's experiences as a drug dealer, constantly hustling and chasing the next deal to make a profit. The singer knows the risks of this lifestyle, but can't seem to escape it, as they are weighed down by the burdens of their past and present circumstances. The lyrics also touch on the themes of loyalty and betrayal, where the singer reveals that they have seen their own brother succumb to an addiction to drugs, while also warning others not to interrupt their business dealings.

Throughout the song, we see the singer's struggle to maintain their own sanity while engaging in this dangerous and often deadly lifestyle. They speak of carrying the weight of their actions and the consequences that come with it, acknowledging the potential for trapping their own soul in the process. Yet, they continue to push forward, driven by the desire for money and success. Grady,

AM radio antennas are usually located nearer to the ground than FM antennas. The broadcast signal from an AM antenna can result in structures such as cranes becoming charged, resulting in high voltage, low current arcing.

One of the oil tankers in our fleet reported that at a certain dock they experienced getting shocks when putting slings on the crane hook. The crew discovered if you held a small fluorescent bulb near the crane hook you could get it to light, Uncle Fester style.

We found that there was an AM radio antenna nearby that was used occasionally by a radio station. When in use at the same time the ship's crane was being used the crane would become charged.

In checking with commercial crane operators, this was a known phenomenon. One operator told us that they had issues when working on San Francisco Bay.

It took some time, and a solution was worked out with the refinery, radio station and new safety practices for crane use on our ships.

Oddly enough I probably was 30 years into my career before this problem was ever encountered.

Something I found super interesting after working on the issue. Most of the studies that predict nuclear winter are innacurate. They are from the 70s and 80s. They modeled nuclear weapons from the 50s using tactic from the 50s and building construction of the suburbs from test conducted in the 50s as that is the data they have from tests against mock towns in the time.

Long story up front is Nuclear Winter is caused by particulates and soot released by the firestorms caused by cities burning. Firestorms are nearly impossible now and extremely unlikely to happen in major cities, making nuclear winter unlikely.

Nuclear weapons from the 50s were ridiculously over powered, and targets tended to be over saturated with weapons to ensure a kill. That was because weapons were so innacurate and many bomber based weapons were expected to be intercepted before use.

Now a days a nuclear winter is unlikely. Weapons are very precise, overwhelmingly aimed at military installations, rather then cities, and overwhelmingly order of magnitude less powerful with far less weapons per target. Most importantly the amount of Burnable material in structures in cities is dramatically reduced since the 50s and building codes especially in Skyscrapers are dramatically improved and will prevent fires from hopping from structure to structure.in major cities and suburbs.

Fallout also would not be anywhere close to what people think because of airburst tactics and weapons are far more efficent at consuming its fuel rather then scattering it about.

@Nick Sz Your comment is partially correct. In my federal government experience, the distinction between pronunciations of an agency’s acronym β€” such as the acronym β€œEPRI” β€” has to do with who is saying it. Employees of any particular agency are typically the ones who pronounce that agency’s acronym like a single, multi-syllable word, such as β€œEE-pree.”

Another example of this comes from the federal agency where I worked for many years; that is, the Executive Office for Immigration Review, or EOIR. Outside (and even inside) the agency, everyone pronounces EOIR as just a stream of letters. However, many employees at the EOIR β€” especially those inside the Falls Church, VA headquarters β€” often pronounce the acronym as a 3-syllable word; i.e., EE-oh-er.

In my estimation, that pronunciation practice began to border on the ridiculous when EOIR employees, attempting to shorten the pronunciation even further, would make it a 2-syllable word. The result sounded just like the name of the gloomy old, gray donkey from Winnie the Pooh: EE-or.

I always supposed this strange and laughable pronunciation was done for the purpose of economy in repetition. For agency employees, especially those who find themselves having to repeat the acronym-name numerous times a day,

Would something like a faraday cage protect against this or is there a limit to what a faraday cage can protect against?

@Lucifer "I think they'd have tp shut down the power lines and ground them."

That was my thought as well: disconnect the upstream, ground the downstream.

I normally just ignore the sponsor stuff but curiosity stream looks pretty awesome. I just paused NF and canceled D+, so it's the perfect time to try something new.
