Thank you so much for this. I was tempted to replace (and re-sell to limit the bleeding...) three or four pedals with the ASABI, given that my actual distortion comes from the interaction of OCD+'78 badass or Russian Big muff+'78 badass and then mainly the spark for gain and a noise gate, of course... Did you get a chance to try the ASABI with humbuckers? And if so, any difference for you?

Elmo Karjalainen

Didn't, no.

Marc Martin

I do love the gain cycling and I do hear a difference in the clipping modes personally. Would you hear that in a band? Depends on many factors obviously. I do think they put a lot of thought into their products especially with how the volume remains consistent through the different clipping options and gain cycles. That is something other builders haven’t been the best at. In the end, nice demo and perspectives. Beautiful playing. I think the pedal is absolutely worth it used price of around 200 American dollars or less if you need an overdrive and distortion in one box. Also the other boxes I’ve tried are not as microphonic as yours so I’m thinking you ask Jackson Audio what’s up and see what they say.

Great review. I picked up a "scratch and dent" model for 220 USD and I love it. For that price, I definitely think it's worth it. Similar to you, I think some of the best tones come from the overdrive section of the pedal.

I just spent about 2 days testing this pedal. This is not only the worst pedal I played but it is BY FAR the worst pedal I came across. The overdrive is OK, but any pedal can do what this overdrive does. The distortion is the worst thing I ever played...i could feel my frustration in this review, which by is pretty good review btw and translates well. I think the respect for the guitarist who designed this pedal speaks more than the actual truth about the pedal itself

Interesting pedal, thank you for the review.
I do like that it has a combined OD and Distortion if for no other reason its convenient.
These days I find myself gravitating towards a more simpler setup/rig as well as keeping all my pedals pure analog design.

Elmo Karjalainen

Yeah, simple is often better.

Daniel Larson

You did get some smooth sounding sounds out of that pedal. Being just a beginner guitarist and not fully in tune with the thinking of musicians, it amazes me sometimes that people can spend a lot of money on a guitar pedal to make their guitar not sound like a guitar. Thanks for the video.

Elmo Karjalainen

And thank you :)

Overdrive sounds good. Distortion on 25% sounded the best imo. For the price you get two pedals in one plus quite possibilities to mess with. The overdrive with more gain sounds great. At the end I think I would pick strymon instead.
