Traces of Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen and Thin Lizzy, some of the Gods of Rock 'n’ Roll, can be felt throughout their music. It’s all about having a good time. Sometimes it's swashbuckling and arrogant, sometimes it's carefree, sometimes it's just plain groovy and sometimes it's sensual, but at the end of it, it just makes you feel like having a hell of a time. Their lyrics are of fast muscle cars, chasing after pretty women and just generally living life with a sort of carefree reckless abandon. However on tracks such as Hunt The Hunted and Wild West, they muster up a slightly heavier, darker sound to tell tales of gun slinging outlaws and mystical hunters.
EXPLOSION comprises of four exceptionally talented artists who all share the common love for all that is Rock ‘n’ Roll. Wesley Davies fills the roll of lead guitarist, and does a superb job by creating catchy gun slinging riffs, long, powerful solos and screaming licks that all keep you hanging on for dear life. Liam Brown throws in his robust, mesmerising voice, full of energy and sex appeal, and his reserved, mystical stage presence adds to the intensity and excitement that their music evokes. Kyle Keegan, on drums, and Sean Brydon, on bass, take care of the rhythm side of things with a sonic boom wall of beats that rattle your bones and keep your feet tapping. Smooth and groovy or gut-punching and abrasive, they’re bound to get you moving to the million dollar beat!
2012 saw EXPLOSION taking their gun slinging Rock ‘n’ Roll approach out of their home province and embarking on two successful tours up north to Gauteng. Whilst there the first time they serendipitously earned a spot at the finals for the 16th Annual Emerging Sounds Challenge after one of the organisers was impressed by their performance. This prompted the second Gauteng tour to be organised to include the appearance. In addition, during 2012, EXPLOSION performed at all the major festivals in Kwa-Zulu Natal with raucous, enthusiastic crowds lapping up their blend of Rock ‘n’ Roll. EXPLOSION were the winners of the Battle for Spog at the Spogweni Music Festival which led to them winning a small recording deal. Wasting no time, they hit the studio in their trademark wanton style to record three of their new tracks. Soon their debut single Lover Boy found its way on to national, community and internet radio stations across South Africa, as well as on a few overseas stations. 2013 has just recently seen the release of their second single Make You Mine, a more dynamic and fun number, to radio stations.
