Voyager
E. Vedder Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If it were up to me I'd give the world hope
But what's the deal though?
I'm seeing way too many people that just feel low
It's out of my control but still it would be nice to be the hero
I can't even trust the water that's flowing down in the stream
Human beings poisoned all the ravines
But are we that distracted?
We need to wake up the whole world collapsing
It'll crash, the world's spinning off of it's axis
The rainforests are almost all ashes
And plus the kid who got picked on in the back of his classes just pulled up with a Mac 10 he
blastin'
But whatever most of us are relaxing and acting
Like there ain't no consequences for actions
And our excuse ain't even a good reason
like really?
Are my eyes believing what they are seeing

We got to keep our eyes open
Cuz we're blinded by all the hating
It's a time that we should be concerned
To avoid the point of no return

If it were up to us man I would travel outside of this metropolis past what these binoculars could
see
And what we see be preposterous now
Follow me through this apocalypse come take a walk with us
Disease, contamination and toxic musk
It's causing us to do lots of drugs I feel like I'm preaching a gospel now
I'm talking like an apostle now we all just need a common ground
Too many people falling down just get back up and walk around be free
Free like a bird is feel like I got a purpose
Just flying over this circus that's full of lions and serpents
Only I know what my worth is even the dirt is Worth more than some of these items we
purchase It's complex
One thing I know for certain the point of no returning...you won't find me U-turning
I'm on to higher learning...I feel we all deserve it
I just don't wanna be trapped inside my mind
I can't believe my eyes are seeing what they are seeing

We got to keep our eyes open
Cuz we're blinded by all the hating
It's a time that we should be concerned
To avoid the point of no return

Well here I am I'm giving this all I got you know the motto it's either all or nothing
It's been a while since I been on a voyage myself
But you know what this could be the start of something
What if it's all for nothing?
What if the God above me decide not to love me?
It feel like all he do nowadays is just try to judge me
Maybe it's from seeing all of this hurt... It must be
But is that what I'm seeing
How am I not dead it feels like I'm hardly breathing
But I am it's these words feels like I'm hardly speaking
Is my mind just a million falling pieces?
Reaching different shores being on all these beaches
Just to find out these lands hold secrets
I might need this
What you call strength that's what I call weakness

I know where I come from
I only begun
But I'm on a journey that only concerns me
Before who you become
Take a look who you are

Take a deep look inside
and follow your pride

This story is amazing. You should read the book, it's very touching and deep. The movie is also great, the soundtrack is stunning, good job Sean Penn!

All over New Zealand. That's one of the GREAT things about going there. You can doing any job you can find, AND travel at the same time. You literally finance your trip while you're on your trip.

@TheFrankeman

Circles they grow and they swallow people whole
Half their lives they say goodnight to wifes they'll never know
A mind full of questions, and a teacher in my soul
And so it goes...

@maddyharvey7414

Fabulous video. :) I may not be able to leave society, but I go hiking in the mountains all the time and I like to think I'm doing what Chris did...

@mshartz5

The book is very different. It doesn't portray him as an automatic hero, but that he may have been mentally unstable and was ignorant for not preparing more both in terms of supplies and survival knowledge.

@Mrrubbaduck

My brother I am in the same position as you are. I have the desire to travel, to be an international vagabond, but jobs where I live are not easy to come by. Although I wanted to travel before I heard Chris's story, it made my urge that much more intense, so intense that it hurts.

@wanderingkingv3045

So hows your life now? Have you followed your heart?
