Stepping Stone
EMISUNSHINE Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She was standing on a bridge|No one there to catch her fall|I could see she was a lot like me|Running wild but not free| |Better friends there never were|Two hearts true|Two paths unknown|I held tight but she let go|That bridge was just her stepping stone| |Angels fly here on earth|Though they rarely know their worth|So much misery she never felt at home|Her heart did ache, her soul did moan| |No mother here, her father jailed|A sorrowful heart is hard to quell|We laughed and danced, but she was lost inside|Just like the darkness in her deep brown eyes| |I asked her once about the Heavenly Host|The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost|She said dust I was and dust I'll be|I only pray He brings peace to me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of EMISUNSHINE's song "Stepping Stone" speaks about a girl who is on the verge of giving up and is standing on a bridge with no one to catch her if she falls. The girl is described as someone who is running wild but not free and is a lot like the singer herself. However, she has a friend who is holding tight but she lets go and uses the bridge as her stepping stone to end her life.

The song also talks about how the girl has never felt at home and has gone through so much misery, with her heart aching, and her soul moaning. The absence of her mother and her father being jailed has only added to her sorrows. Even though they laughed and danced, the girl always seemed lost inside, just like the darkness in her deep brown eyes.

Nothing wrong with this at all. I loved it. You have a stile all your own and you don't hold back.
You build the song really well and end it with a bang and then drift off into space.
That's the way its done. This song needs violins or fiddles or both.
