Hey Child
East 17 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey child - wash away your tears
Hang on till tomorrow comes
Cos it will soon be here
Hey child - don't give up today
Gotta be some good times baby
Not so far away
Child - love don't come easily
And child - don't be afraid to feel
Cos the times gonna come
When you're gonna go
And my only advice is
To live life your own way
I'm here for you
Till my dying day
Hey child - wash away your tears
Hang on till tomorrow comes
Cos it will soon be here
Hey child - don't give up today
Gotta be some good times baby
Not so far away
Child - don't be a fool for love
Cos child - it will
Come soon enough
Like a mind
Need a dream
And a song needs a theme
Every heart needs a home
To express just
How it feels
I'm there for you
Till my dying day
Hey child - wash away your tears
Hang on till tomorrow comes
Cos it will soon be here
Hey child - don't give up today

Gotta be some good times baby
Not so far away

Would love to hear Brian Harvey sing this to hear how it would/should of been........

Tim Marshall

I dunno. The first album was done originally for Tony's voice cause he was signed as a solo artist on the condition he get 3 friends so they could appear like a fully contributing band and they serendipitously discovered Brian had a unique voice.

From what I've heard there wasn't a Harvey geared version of this, this was when tensions were off the charts and they were all considering splitting anyway

Roy Gilpin

I disagree. Mortimer wrote it, it suits his sultry tones and more importantly it reached no. 3 in the UK chart!
