Leaf Motif
Echoes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Time for the leaves to fall
Floating into the ground
(And) contemplate this spiraling journey
Into the red and brown
As we hit the ground
Unable to realize
If we were just past our time
The wind calls my name
Still felt put together
So full of life
As we fall forever
Stare at the clouds
And the rain falls over me
Awaiting the march (of seasons)
The time to be reborn
Through the days standing still
Don't worry for me anymore
I'm no more than a dream
Another leaf falling down

Such a weight on my shoulders
So white and so cold
Into rivers into tears
And shouts of pure joy
In searing heat caressed your hand
For many days I lied down
Waiting for you to grow
Only to fall on me again

The wind calls my name
Still felt put together
So full of life
As we fall forever
Stare at the clouds
And the rain falls over me
Awaiting the march (of seasons)
The time to be reborn

Through the days I stood still
Don't worry for me anymore

I'm no more than a dream
Another leaf falling down

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Leaf Motif" explore the natural cycle of life and death through the imagery of falling leaves. The song begins by acknowledging the inevitability of the leaves falling to the ground and the contemplation of their journey as they spiral downwards, turning red and brown. The ambiguity of whether the leaves fell "past their time" further emphasizes the uncertainty of the natural cycle.

As the song continues, the singer reflects on their own mortality, recognizing that they too will one day meet the same fate as the falling leaf. Yet, there is a sense of acceptance and peace in the realization that they are "no more than a dream" and will be reborn with the march of the seasons.

The poetic language in this song highlights the beauty in the natural process of life and death. The symbolism of the falling leaves is a powerful representation of the cyclical nature of existence and the inevitability of change.

@ShatteredWindowpane

It actually sounds unique, unlike 80% of other Prog Metal bands who all sound the same: Same singer sound, usually a Power Metal vibe to it. This reminds me of Katatonia and Pink Floyd, with a hint of Dream Theater, but mostly something unique. I like it.
